Chapter 1 The candle
I was so bored. Nothing had happened in days. I was sitting in my room just waiting for my mom to knock and say that it was time for breakfast. She didn't come. After a few minutes I got up from bed and started to get dressed. Then suddenly I remembered that it was my 17th birthday so I needed to go back to bed again and pretend that I was sleeping. I quietly ran back to bed while brading my hair just the way I always had it while sleeping. Once I was done with the brade, I layed down and pretende to sleep. Then I heard the singing. I quickly got back to bed again and closed my eyes. Cora got in and in her hands she was holding a candle. It was not a normal candle like everybody else got on their birthday, but a candle that could make wishes come true. I got one every year so that my mother wouldn't have to plan a present to give to me. I opened my eyes and saw that my father Henry was standing right next to her holding in his hand a plate with cookies. I yawned so they would think I just woke up. Cora looked down at my face and smiled.
"Happy birthday my beautiful daughter" said father.
"Thank you so much. You did not have to do this for me" I said and smiled at them both. I actually thought they could have given me something else than the same gift every year. But I didn't say anything.
"This is not much, besides I thought what could possably be better than what my daughter truly desires?" Cora said and smiled.
I smiled back at her while thinking that's the same shit you try to fool me with every year. It doesn't work.
"Aren't you going to blow out the candle?" my dad askes.
I answer him by closing my eyes thinking *I don't want to be alone on my birthday. I always am and I'm tired of it. I want to feel loved even if it's just for a day.* And then I blew out the candle.
