Sienna

Ring... Snooze...

Ring... Snooze...

"Wake up, lazy." I ignored the deep voice pulling me awake and hid my face under the pillow. "Wake! UP! UP! UP!" He said louder while poking me after every word he uttered.

"Go away, Blake!" I screamed hoping I would be heard through the pillow muffling my voice. Poke. Poke. "And stop poking me." I snapped and sat up. "You're such a pest." I mumbled and set my head back down and shut my eyes to go back to sleep.

"You promised me, Sienna! You're such a traitor." He stomped out of my room. Ring... I slammed my alarm clock and pulled the plug off so it wouldn't ring again.

"And you're a big baby. Now go home crying to mama." I said out loud even though I knew Blake wasn't around to hear me. Hugging my pillow and pulling my blanket up to my shoulders snuggling myself in it, I let my dreams pull me back in.

Just seconds after I drifted into a peaceful sleep, Swish, my blanket disappeared. "What is wrong with you?" I screamed out. "Can you not let a girl sleep? It's a Sunday morning for crying out loud. It's cold. And I want to sleep, Blake" I cried out.

"I thought you'd say that. And it's about to get colder." I didn't even have time to think of a witty come back when a bucket of iced cold water came tumbling all over me. "Now you're awake. Get dressed." He threw a towel on to me. "We have a long hike ahead of us. And it's only cold because you had your air conditioning on the whole night. It's a good 28 degrees outside." He walked out of the room sneering like he just pulled the joke of the century.

"That was not funny, Blake." I got off my bed and stared at it wondering how I'm going to clean up the dripping mess that someone else created. "You better help clean this mess at least."

"Stop whining and get dressed already." His head peeked in and I threw a soaking wet pillow towards him which didn't reach my target; his head. "Nice try." He laughed and disappeared again.

"How much longer?" I stopped to catch my breath leaning against one of the many trees on either side of the path we were walking on. Whoever said walking up hill was a piece of cake deserves to be hit by a brick. I just couldn't find one anywhere around me to throw it at the pest, also known as, my best friend.

As much as he makes it his personal aim to annoy the hell out of me I could trust him with my life. Blake was the Boy Next Door. We knew each other ever since my family first moved into the neighbourhood, which was when I was still crawling around in my diapers.

Blake was left to the custody of his grandmother, by his parents, at the tender age of one. Why they left or where they went is a mystery to both of them. Mum and Dad became family to him the same way Blake and his Grandmother became family to me.

Blake filled the void that was left in my family after the death of my brother whom I never had the pleasure of knowing. I was just a few months old when he passed and since then, no one ever speaks about him. My family moved up here since my parents took the loss really hard and needed a change of atmosphere. I'm glad it worked out in our favour.

"Come on! Not further long, lazy pants." Blake was about 20 feet ahead of me. "Want me to come carry you?" he shouted to me and laughed slapping his thigh.

"Hardy Ha Ha." I started the walk to him panting with every step I took. "You are so hilarious." I added sarcastically. He handed me a bottle of water when I reached him. "This is not enough for the both of us." I pointed out a very obvious fact after having a long drink out of it. From the very exciting early morning wakeup call and getting dressed I forgot to carry my own when leaving home.
