Did it mean forever or did it mean temporary? Riley had pulled back from their long lasting kiss as she awed in surprise. They were only friends. They were only platonic. Or so they thought.
Emerald eyes stare at her brown, chocolate eyes. Both filled with amounts of love and desire. Desire for each other. They were both on Riley's bay window and neither of them knew exactly what had happened. Lucas liked Maya. Riley liked Charlie. That was the way it was supposed to end, right?
His arm still wound around her waist as her hands held by her side. Just thinking about it gave them chills. The thought of their lips pressed against each other's. Soft and demanding. Eager and filling.
Still they sat there. Questioning what had happened and questioning whether to continue it or leave it. Although they would never know who kissed who first because both seemed to want each other's lips. He wanted to kiss her again, she wanted the same. Miscommunication all brought to the misty air as one of them finally decided to speak up.
" Riley? What happened?" Lucas asks. He knew what happened, detail for detail, but he just wanted to know how she felt. If she was okay with what he so much desired for a while.
She quietly starts tapping her feet against the hard wood floor and answers quietly," I don't know Lucas. Was it even supposed to happen?" Her thoughts swirled endlessly to a pit of nothing. She wanted to kiss him senseless until her father walked in. She just needed him.
He looks at the ground and let's go of her waist. He felt like he knew she didn't like it. " I mean we can pretend that it never happened and move on. You go to Charlie and I go to Maya," he answers.
She just nodded. Chewing on her bottom lip violently until she could feel a gush of blood rush out. She was more so regretting ever thinking the kiss didn't mean anything. It meant everything and it felt like something. The burst of butterflies in the pit of her stomach. The sparks of love blasting in her body.
Lucas felt horrible. He felt like he was stuck in a situation. Quick sand. If he told Riley he loved her more than friends, she would deny it and they would never talk again. If he didn't tell Riley that he loved her than he would live in a web of lies along with making Maya believe I love her as a romantic relationship.
He slowly turned around, opening the white windows to leave, the wind gusting of a cold breeze. The fresh smell of the plants and nature. That's when he was halfway out when he realized something. He didn't want that. He didn't want to live in a world where he couldn't be with Riley Matthews. The girl he was in love with. He didn't want to pretend the kiss didn't mean something to him.
Lucas turned around and went back into her room, Riley still sitting on the bay window when she looks up to meet his eyes.
She look at him confused, raising one eyebrow and before she could even speak a word, he crashed his lips onto hers. Butterflies. Sparks. Love. That's what he felt. She stumbled at first and then continued to kiss him. His hands on her cheeks, her hands pressed against his muscular chest. As the kiss came to a slow end, they both broke apart and gasped for air. They didn't want to stop, but they knew that if they didn't, one of them would end up not breathing.
She gives him a funky smile and he immediately smiles back.
" What did you do that for?" Riley asks. She enjoyed that more than anything, well she loved Lucas more.
" I'm in love with you Riley and I'm sorry I couldn't admit it earlier because I was nervous. Nervous that you would never accept that I'm in love with you and nothing's going to change that. Not you. Not Maya. Not Charlie. Because----" before Lucas could even finish Riley had already smashed her lips back onto Lucas's.
