Hinata came in the next day, his already wild hair even messier. It flew out in every direction, bright like the sun. His eyes were another story, as they lacked brightness altogether. It looked like his last piece of hope was gone, no, his last hope was gone. His eyes just emphasized the fact.
It stung for his teammates to see, the boy was quickly getting worse, but it made it easier for all of them to stay out of it. Of course, there was the occasional 'are you okay?' And 'remember, you can tell us anything. We're her for you Hinata.'
But, the boy didn't listen. He didn't want their help. And although he needed it, he ignored what little help they offered.
His home life was getting worse. His mother was barely home, she had to take on three jobs to support the family. Hinata had even started walking dogs and mowing lawns for whatever extra money he could find. He couldn't stand to see his mother hurting, so he did whatever he could to help. He tried to help his sister too, he was in so much pain just thinking about her. But no matter how hard he worked to protect her, the bruises still danced across her skin. Their father was out of control.
Hinata had it even worse. Bring the oldest and most masculine, his father took out most of his anger on him. The other two were only his targets when Hinata was out of the house.
The bruises and cuts stained Hinata's skin. The skin that was once perfect, like that of a porcelain dolls. There was purple all over his body, and he probably had more cuts than he had skin. His face was left untouched. Although his father was evil, he wasn't stupid.
His team remembered the first day Hinata acted odd.
"Hinata, why are you wearing a sweater? It's so hot." Daichi asked. Hinata tugged at the sleeves nervously, feeling as though they could see the bruises and cuts his father had left on his body.
"Oh. N-no reason. I guess I'm just kind of cold." Hinata said, hoping they would believe his lie. And although they knew he was bluffing, they hoped it was a problem he could solve on his own.
