'Brrrring!'

'Brrrring!'

"Hello, this is Rosa Portelli staff of 'The Candy Emporium' how can I help you?"

"Are you the one on fifth street?" a grumpy sounding old lady answered with a huff.

"No miss, that's along Broadway Avenue. Were on eighth street, along Hanson Avenue."

"Huh, where's that!"

"Which one miss?

"What's with this miss business?-Broadway.."

"Sorry mi- mam, Broadway Avenue is down town"

"What's their phone number, I'm too stiff to move.."

"I don't know mam, it should be in the Yellow Pages"

"Well check! I don't have all day, ya' know"

Looking up, all I see is a maze of people. The door is forever spinning around, opining and closing. I spot the Yellow Pages sitting up against the wall next to the door.

"I'll be just a minute mam,"

"No no, it doesn't matter, by-"

"Wait! Why don't you order here, we have every kind of sweet you can think of"

"Every kind, huh?"

Her words challenged me,

"Yes mam 'every kind', what would you like?"

-Game on old lady,

"Well I don't know, what do you have?"

"Well, practically every thing you can think of"

"Do you have..... sour gummy- light bulbs?

Checking under the list of gummy's, I stop when I find what I'm looking for.

"Yes mam we do, in fact we even have chocolate ones"

I licked my lips,

"Gummy fish?"

"Yes"

"Chewy Gum Yum Yums?"

"Yes-"

"Dr Pepper flavored lolly bottles?"

"Ye-"

"M and Ms, sour Skittles, purple and blue lolly pops, Jelly Babies, Gummy Worms-"

"Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes"

"Oh, well... what about little chocolate Santas?"

It's not even Christmas! it's the middle of February!

I looked on the list, shit!

"No mam, but in eleven months the shelves will be fully st-"

"I can't wait eleven months! I might drop dead at any moment. I want chocolate Santas now!"

"I'm so-"

"I'm never going to shop at your store, ever! I'm going to tell all of my friends at Bingo never to go here!"

"But-"

"Beeeeeeeep!"

I let out a scream of frustration, slamming the phone down.

Stupid old cow!

"Rosie, are you all right?"

I look up to come face to face with my sisters concerned face- her wild curly red hair was flying in all directions. Her face was cream with light brown freckles sprayed across her nose. She inherited mums hair while the rest of us four got our fathers midnight, black hair. Her eyes were a deep ivy green with flakes of gold- we all had the same eyes, our whole family. I-
