It was the end of the day. I walked to the locker room to take my surgical clothes off and put my normal clothes on. I grabbed my stuff and made my way out of the hospital but then Josh stopped me "Hey wait up, for me!" We walked to the parking lot and then we made our way home. I dropped Josh over to his house and then I made my way home.
When I got home I made myself something to eat and I turned on the news. "Fire outbreak on Rosdale street, victims are being transported to Washington Dove hospital."
And then the phone rang. It was the chief. "Hey get your ass over here we have patients. LETS GO!" I got up, I put on my work clothes, and I drove to the hospital. I was walking from my car to the hospital but then an uber showed up, it was Josh. "Hey let's go."
There was so many patients. I walked over to a patient that didn't look like he had a lot of burns. He said his name was Ralph. He wouldn't stop asking about his wife, so I told him that everything was fine. Forget that I PROMISED him everything will be fine and that was my first mistake.
I ran some tests and everything looked fine. I grabbed a plastic surgeon and had him look at him just in case. He told me just to get him a room and make sure his vitals are stable. Josh came into the room and told me he needed help just for a second or two.
I walked out of the room, just for one second and when I came back, he was having a heart attack, nothing was fine. I pressed the code blue button and attendings and nurses came in with a defibrillator (electric paddles) and tried to  control his heart beat, but then he flat lined. "Dr. Lloyd call it." "Time of death; 1200." He died. I stood over his dead body. Yup this is now my life, I said.
