The midday sun was scorching hot, sweat trickled quickly down Lucy's neck. Her blouse stuck to her like glue making her feel uncomfortable, she felt in desperate need of a shower. Shd was spitting profanities in her head towards her boss. He made her miss the only bus that ever ran in this godforsaken town and it was just her luck that it was the last trip of the day. Sighing to herself she had to resort to walking the entire way home.

Lucy walked in a quick pace hoping to end her torture quickly. During this walk she had time to think....think about her life, something she never really had time to do. She had dreams and aspirations that would never be fulfilled if she stayed in this washed out town called Chester. But she couldn't leave no matter how much she wanted to, she had responsibilities being the breadwinner of her family. She had to think about her twin brothers and sickly mother. One day she taught to herself, she would put herself first for once.

Losing herseld in her thoughts she didn't even realize that she was almost home, it was the sound of a muttering engine that brought her ouy of her daze. Turning around she saw the one and only Apsen Rolland, he was the heartbreaker of the town. "Hey there Lucy, need some help?" he asked, removing her matted hair from against her neck she replied, "No thanks Aspen". She observed his reaction to her surprise it was one of surprise also. "This sun's not pleasant Lu, come on I'll give you a ride," he replied. Giving into his offer she hopped into his truck.

During the entire ride they hardly spoke, she would steal glances at him through her long lashes. She was perplexed as to why he had stopped for her, they hardly ever spoke when they saw each other. Upon arriving at her small yet homey house she thanked him for the ride, he only smiled in return showing her his dimples. As she walked up the walkway, she realized he didn't leave yet, she was quite curious but she brushed it off.

Entering the front door she was hit with the sound of silence. Her house was never this slient when the twins were around. Dropping her bag at the door she walked towards the kitchen, no one was there either. She was tired and ready to pass out so she slowly walked into the brightly lit living room and she could not believe they had done this.
Shock was written over her face as she observed all the people, they had just finished screaming "Happy Birthday" to her. She felt tears in her eyes, this was her family, her life, her home even if she left it would always remain that way.
