Love at first sight?

She was the most beautiful person I had ever met. I was interested in her from the start. Just seeing her fascinated me. I know it sounds crazy, since I have always claimed that love was fake and all around stupid to believe in, but now I believe that this is what love at first sight is.

I soon found myself wanting to be near her more and more. I had to know more about the girl who captured my attention form just one look. I learned that she was a kind and thoughtful person. She was so much more than a pretty face. I was even more amazed of how perfect she seemed to me yet no one else noticed. Just the way she walked and talked, everything about her made my heart speed up.

Soon I couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to talk to her. "H-Hello" I barley choked it out I was so nervous. "Hi, I'm Lola, I don't believe we've ever really talked... you're in my science class, right?." I nodded slightly before adding. "M-My name's Jeremy... you haven't been here too long, have you?" I added quietly. "No, I haven't, though everyone here has been so nice to me, I think I'll make some really good friends." She smiled brightly with obvious hope in here eyes. "Hey we should hang out sometime," I suggested. "Yeah, let's do it," she said softly. Then she left me, I felt happy, excited, anxious, and relieved all at the same time.

Excited I quickly ran to find Dara and tell her I finally did it. "Heh, so you finally worked up the courage to do it huh?", she smiled. I laughed with her. "Yeah I know I've been acting like a wimp", I admitted this to her and she looked kinda surprised. "Heh, never thought you'd own up to it." She shoved me in a playful way and I shoved back. I swear we're like siblings but I love every moment of it, everything's just so natural, like a friendship should be. I can't explain why but we've always been close, even though I was a big baby when I was little. Even then people picked on us for 'who knows what reason'. Dara was super tough so she was always getting into fights, but even when she got hurt she never wanted me to be involved. In hindsight she was like a mom and a sister all in one. Something I feel terrible about not knowing at the time is what she goes through at home. She was always there for me then would go home to a constantly drunk mom and a Dad that was almost never there... and to think I felt like I had family problems. We'll anyway, this isn't important to the story right now.

Dara looked at me and laughed. "Remember you have 3rd with her next period." I had almost forgotten, "Oh, that's right!" Third period, for me, was Algebra 2. To be honest I've always hated math but I've warmed up to the class ever since Lola came. Actually when it came that day I toned the teacher out and focused on Lola. I was captivated even more than usual, probably because I finally managed to talk to her. Today she was wearing a pretty blue shirt, you know one of the really nice ones with ruffles, black shorts that suited her and the shirt perfectly, and a pair of strapped sandals. Looking at her I realized why most people seem to take to her pretty quickly, she dresses nice but isn't trying too hard. She really had a subtle way of making a great first impression just off of sight. I looked at myself, I wouldn't say I looked plain, but I definitely look average. I mainly just dress in simple jeans and t-shirts that I like. Looking back it might have been a good idea to dress a little nicer.

After class I rushed to Lola. "Hey, I was wondering if we could get together today." I rushed so I wouldn't lose my nerve. "Sure, we could study for the test together." She smiled brightly. "Test?" I tilted my head slightly, confused. "Weren't you paying attention in class," she giggled. I paused because honestly I wasn't paying attention, well not to the class. "heh I guess not" I laughed slightly. "How about we study together?" her kind smile seemed to glow. "That would be great.. can we discuss it before we leave?" I smiled back. "I'll talk to you then" She headed off to her next class.

I don't really remember how fourth period went, not that it matters.

When school was finishing up for the day I went to my locker. While I was standing at the locker my friend Jerry sneaked up behind me and stole my book bag before throwing it to Scott. They passed it back and forth, laughing to themselves. "Hey are we still planing on getting together today?" Jack asked walking up. I had forgotten all about it. "No I can't, I forgot and made other plans," my face turned bright red. "Aw, come on Jer," Jerry teased, he loved to pick on me. "Sorry," I felt very awkward. "One question, what are the plans?" Jerry showed a grin as he said it. "Well, it involves a girl," I mumbled as my face tuned an even deeper shade of red. "I thought you didn't believe in love, what's changed your mind," they can be so nosy. "You might have met her, Lola," they seemed impressed. As I left Jack smiled and said good bye. He was probably the only person able to put up with the twins for long periods of time.

Then I ran to catch Lola before she left. She was with Bridget. Bridget hates me because she asked me out a few months ago and I turned her down, I tried to be nice and just sayI didn't think of her that way. she was enraged and threw a fit. She claimed that she could have any guy she wanted. She said I would be sorry.

"Hi" I forced a smile. "Hello Jeremy, come to see me? I knew you would come begging for me, well too late, you missed your chance," she smiled arrogantly. "Um, I'm here to see Lola..." I said awkwardly and glanced at Lola. She turned to storm off, but instead bumped into Dara, knocking her to the ground. "Watch where you're going, reject!" Bridget screamed, kicking dust at Dara. "Shut up, you have no right to say anything brat" Dara said in a cold tone. Suddenly Bridget was yelling at Dara, who made it worse by yelling back. I pushed in, "Bridget, please leave Dara alone, you ran into her." A fierce look was shot my way from Bridget. "Figures poor wittle Dara would need her boy toy to come save her." "Shut up! You of all people have no right to say that about me!" She turned slightly "Jer I can handle myself." "Whatever," she turned and left. "Jer have you seen Jack and the twins?" "No, are you that desperate for company now," I teased. "Shut it, they said it was important ...... it's probably a prank." Dara was giggling. "Oh, hello Lola, sorry to but in, I'll let you two talk, bye." She smiled and walked away.

I continued to talk to Lola. "I always thought you and Dara were an item." She said this in an apologetic tone. "Ugh! Why does everyone think that!?" I sighed. "Sorry, I didn't know it was like that, it's just that you two are always together and you're obviously very close." She explained. "Well she is a good friend, we've always been like siblings." "Oh, well that's nice to know," she smiled sweetly. Quickly she changed the subject, "So come over in an hour, I'll call you. but I need your number". I wrote it down for her then she gave me hers. "Well, see ya." This was the last thing sh said before walking away.

I ran straight home and did all my other homework in about ten minutes. Then I took a quick shower. I dressed in the same clothes that I went to school in. Lastly I put my favorite hat, mostly because my hair was still kinda wet. I sat there and waited for Lola to call. Every moment felt like hours. I was full of anxiety. I started pacing back and forth. I thought over what Lola had said but worried that she might just blow me off. I was going crazy. Eventually I went to call her.

My phone started ringing, it was Lola! "Hi," I could barely hide my excitement. "Hey, you can come over now, I live next to the middle school." "Great, I'll be there soon." I was talking at a quick pace. "Kay, bye." I ran there, sprinting past and over obstacles. When I finally got to her house I was out of breath. I took a few moments to compose myself and catch my breath before knocking.

Lola opened the door. She seemed pleased to see me. "Hey, here already?" She sounded surprised. "Well, I had nothing else to do." I tried to sound like I hadn't just ran here to see her. "Yea, I bet", she giggled. "Well come in, nice to have you." She talked while we walked into the living room.

Her house was nice it had well lit rooms with plenty of windows. The living room wall was a badge but it was covered in pictures and shelves. The couch and drapes were a dark shade of burgundy. The floor was beautiful polished wood. The house was beautiful and classy, it matched Lola perfectly.

Lola seemed slightly distracted though she wouldn't tell me why. We simply chatted for a few minutes before we had to start working. I was happy; there with Lola I was peaceful. We opened our text books and began to review. As time went by Lola had decided to get drinks. While she was gone I had decided in my mind to tell her how I feel but I needed to wait for the right time.

The evening went on, soon it was time for me to leave. "Well this was great," I sighed. "Yea, it has been fun," she smiled. "Um, Lola...I, uh, have something to tell you" I stuttered. "What is it?" She tilted her head slightly. I paused, Just say it, tell Lola you like her, I thought. "Well Lola I... well I, um, I really like you" I choked on my own words. "Really," she smiled, "I'm really happy to hear that." "Wait, what? D-do you mean to tell me that you l-like me too?" I was so relived and overcome with joy. "Yea, that's why I was glad to hear that you and Dara are not a couple." She laughed awkwardly. "Hey, Lola, do you want to go out Saturday, on a real date?" I asked more confidently. "Sure, why don't we go to the movies." She suggested. I nodded and smiled before saying "I'll see you tomorrow". With that I left.
