On the day of the forbidden birth, a stubborn young girl of 23 gave birth to two twin girls, Akuma & Tenshi no Shōjo.
The birth was difficult; the doctors had no control over the woman and she was in danger of hurting herself and her children. After hours of panic and chaos, she welcomed two new lives to the world.
Sadly enough, the woman died shortly after the birth, next to her favoured sister. She told her sister to take care of them, name them something kind and pretty, make sure they're happy. Only in vain.
It is rumoured to say that the only reason those girls survived is that they went to places unknown. Supposedly when they were born, their lungs didn't work properly and they were gasping for air not even ten minutes after their mother died. It seemed like a lost cause.
Akuma was said to had gone down, being favoured by a queen who says she was far nobler than her sister. The queen gave her life.
Tenshi, supposedly went up, another queen saying that she was kingly, fit to rule one day. The queen gave her life.
So the girls grew up in secret, having made a bargain with their favoured queen; immortality. The best life to live for but again at a price.
Akuma's queen told her, "You need to defend yourself. Defend your loved ones. Defend everyone. I want you to be a demon; capable of anything but only at his choice." And so Akuma became a demon.
Tenshi's queen said, "Oh, darling, this just won't do; a mortal body with nothing making you different or better than the others no matter how hard you try. You shall be an angel; pulling people in with your beautiful looks and your sweet words." And so Tenshi became an angel.
Now you would think they were... super heroes, destined to do something great or something of the sort but living in secret didn't provide them with any other opportunities; they were home schooled, friendless, and considerably bored.
Until the winter solstice, that is.
