"Sam." A voice murmured before me.
"...Sam."
"Sam." The voice hissed next to me, startling me out of my daydream.
I glanced over to my left where Rachel was leaning over her desk and staring at me. My eyes quickly darted to the front of the class where the teacher was scribbling on the whiteboard, his back to the class.
"What?"
"Are you okay?" My friend asked, arching an eyebrow at me.
I cleared my throat and sat up straight before offering her a tight-lipped smile.
"I'm fine."
Rachel saw right through my lie.
"You've been distant all week." She said.
"I haven't." I murmured back to her.
Rachel scoffed and slumped back in her chair. "Yeah, okay. So you've really had that much work that you had to lock yourself in your room all week."
I rolled my eyes and ignored my friend, I couldn't deal with her right now.
After the kiss I shared with Elsie I'd been too embarrassed to face her. I had been that shocked about what had happened that I had run out of the store room.
I guess I'd have to face her at some point, I still had her hoodie after all.
Rachel must have realised that she wasn't going to get much of a conversation from me and sighed before turning to face the front of the class again.
My mind had been replaying that night for the last week, my mind had been working in overdrive trying to figure out how, why?
Why did Elsie kiss me?
Why did I kiss her back?
I knew she was attractive, I mean she was gorgeous. Everyone knew that... But that night I saw another side to her, one that she kept hidden from others. She was a good kisser too, at least I think she was. Not that I'd ever admit it to anyone but that was my first kiss.
I groaned internally and leant forward on my hands as I tried to concentrate on the rest of my class.

The bell soon rang, I collected my stuff together and shoved them into my bag before leaving the classroom with Rachel trailing along behind me.
"Sam." She said firmly, reaching out to grab my wrist as she did.
I came to a stop in the middle of the corridor and turned round to face her.
"What Rachel?" I asked impatiently.
"I'm your friend," She sighed. "You can talk to me. I know something is bothering you and I'm not stupid so I know something went down when you went out with Elsie the other week."
I winced at her slight bluntness.
"I knew I was right," Rachel shifted her weight from one foot to the other. "what did she do?"
"Nothing."
"She didn't hurt you or anything did she?" Rachel asked, her eyes widening. "Did Janet set her up to prank you or something?"
I shook my head quickly. "No, no. Elsie didn't do anything. She's not like the others."
"Well she did something." Rachel replied.
"Fine." I bit my lip and sighed heavily before tugging Rachel to the side of the now crowded hallway, I glanced around quickly making sure nobody who could overhear us was in sight.
