Chapter 4
It was, that following morning on the way to school, that the voice seemingly followed him everywhere but only spoke at certain times. Michael walked past the monument of the statue of the Devout Ranger like he usually did. This time the voice said: "Look at the plaque on the statue."
So, Michael did. It read: "Statue of Brigham Zeas. He founded this city after leading a band of refugees that he single handedly saved from the Standards at Blight Mountain."
The voice said: "Fraud. He's a fraud. Let the world know."
A long time ago, Michael recalls a live news broadcast where an interview between a certain scholar by the name of Paige Wood and reporter occurred. It was supposed to be an interview about the correct excavating procedures for a prophet. He couldn't remember the rest of the story... Other than the part where the prophet in question was none other than Brigham Zeas the Ranger. The scholar, rather unexpectedly, uttered the words: "He wasn't really a prophet. He didn't free any prisoners and he didn't help anyone out. These were likely fabrications by the Order."
After that, the television broadcast ended and resumed a few moments later with the reporter uttering the words "She's an ignorant heretic. Obviously Brigham Zeas was a prophet. We apologize for the unexpected act of blasphemy."
With that thought in mind, Michael took off his backpack and unzips the main compartment. He pulled out a large felt-tipped permanent marker and wrote on the chest of the statue in large letters: FRAUD.
Quickly he closes his book bag and runs off, hoping that nobody saw him do that.
