The Move

I got out of the moving truck with my parents, my sister, Maddie, and my pack-mate, Rhydian. Yes, I said pack-mate. We're a pack of Wolfbloods, and my dad is also part Evo. The only problem? The government absolutely hates Wolfbloods and evos, and they made sure the rest of the country did too.

Aren't we just so lucky? Of course, the genes of the Wolfblood and Evo were passed down to us, giving us the very nice combination of everything everyone hated. Lucky us.

The sky was a gray overcast; very cloudy with no hint of sunshine. Ah, just how I like it. We walked around to the back of the truck and opened it. We started grabbing boxes and pulling them out to take into our new home.

The new house was bigger than our old one, a two-story masterpiece with a basement underneath and very fancy landscaping in the front, with a pool in the back. I couldn't wait to see what the inside looked like.

When I turned around, I saw a boy who looked to be about my age walking up to us. "Want some help?" he asked shyly.

"That would be great actually," I said, "Just grab a few boxes and follow me." I turned and started walking up the pathway of stones to the front of the house with Maddie, Rhydian, and the new boy walking right behind me.

As a target of the government, you might think we would try to keep ourselves distant from the rest of the population. But we didn't. We were kind to everyone, and we made as many friends as we could. Threatened extinction was never a reason to be a jerk, and it helped to make us less noticeable by the rest of the world.

When I got up to the front door, I set my box down and helped Rhydian open the two front doors so that we could get all of the boxes and furniture in with little trouble. We carried the boxes into the small entrance hall by the front door and left them there.

We went back and grabbed more boxes and other little bits of furniture that we could carry by ourselves, laughing and carrying on the whole time.

"Well, that's the last of them," the boy said as he set the last box down.

"Hey, let's go see the upstairs! Do you have the floor plan of the house?" I asked Maddie.

"Yep. Let's go find out rooms!" Maddie yelled excitedly before bolting up the stairs with Rhydian trailing behind her.

"Do you want to come look with us?" I asked the boy with a welcoming smile.

"Sure," he replied as he returned the smile before following me up the stairs.

"Okay, Rhydian, you're down that hall, and (Y/N) you're in there. I'm in here," Maddie pointed to our rooms as she turned around to open the door to her new room, the rest of us turning to do the same. The boy followed me into my room as I admired it.

The walls were painted (F/C) and it had two closets. It also had a bathroom! Maddie's also had a bathroom, but Rhydian's didn't. Since Maddie and I had makeup and other feminine routines to worry about, we won the bathrooms, while Rhydian would be forced to make do without one and merely share with the rest of the family.

"Well, this is it," I said to the boy, before a lightbulb went off in my head, "Hey, I just realized that I never got your name."

"Oh, I'm Tommy, Tommy Clarke," he said, holding his hand out to shake.

"(Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N)," I said, copying his way of introducing himself, earning a chuckle from him.

"How old are you?" he asked me, looking a bit hopeful for a reason I didn't understand.

"Fifteen. The other two are as well," I replied.

"So am I! What are their names?" he asked, smiling happily. I guess I gave the right answer.

"My sister's name is Maddie, and my brother's name is Rhydian," I explained. Even though Rhydian wasn't technically my brother, it was easier to say that he was rather than tell him everything.

"Wait, so you guys are triplets?" Tommy asked incredulously, his eyes lighting up with excitement and wonder.

"Yep," I said with a huge, proud smile. Tommy's look of shock and amazement was priceless, and it took everything I had not to laugh.

'Nope, Maddie and I are twins. Rhydian's an add-on,' I thought in my head.

"That's so cool! Do you need any more help moving those boxes?" he asked in the same wondrous tone he had used earlier.

"Well, now we need to sort everyone's stuff and then get it up here... Just wait until we're trying to get furniture up those stairs!" I exclaimed, smiling as I walked out into the hallway to meet up with Maddie and Rhydian.

"Okay, we'll show each other our rooms once we're finished decorating, agreed?" Rhydian asked. He had been bugging both of us about his super cool idea for weeks now, and it was adorable.

"Agreed," Maddie and I said together. We looked at each other and laughed.

"Telepathy," we both said again, and we laughed even harder. The boys just rolled their eyes at each other before joining in the laughter with us. When we could finally breathe again, I decided to introduce Tommy.

"Oh, by the way, guys, this is Tommy," I said.

    "I'm Maddie."

"Rhydian," the two of them introduced themselves casually, holding out their hands for a handshake.

"Nice to meet you," Tommy replied as he tried to match their casualty.

"Well, I guess we have to go sort now," I said as we all walked downstairs to sort our boxes. While we were sorting, Tommy's phone went off.

"Sorry, my mom texted. I've got to run. But before I do, (Y/N)? Can I have your number?" he asked, sounding a little nervous as he hopefully held out his phone. I giggled at his nervousness.

"Sure," I said before getting up and going over to him. He handed me his phone, and I put the number in, smiling at him as I did so.

"Thanks!" he smiled before running out of the house.

That was almost one year ago.
