Don't Judge By Looks
Parents and adolescents think bands like Pierce The Veil are a bad influence as opposed to other musicians such as Justin Bieber. But when you think of it, ask yourself who is really the better influence and who is worse. People say that bands like Pierce The Veil are worse because they dress and look "differently" and their music is a "different" kind of music. People judge them without even knowing what their songs and them stand for. So they judge bands like Pierce The Veil for being "different" but they often will let their children listen to people like Justin Bieber with a second thought.Do you know the band Pierce The Veil? Probably not. Vic Fuentes is the lead vocalist. He also plays the rhythm guitar, and the keyboard. Mike Fuentes is the drummer and he also plays percussion and sings the back vocals. Tony Perry is the lead guitarist. Jaime Preciado is the bass guitar player, and he also sings back vocals too along with Mike. Pierce The Veil is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. The members came together as a band in 2007. At San Diego State University, Vic came up with the band's name while sitting in a sociology class. He came up with the name when the professor mentioned piercing the veil - meaning to go directly to the root of the problem and removing it at its source. He like liked the concept of stopping the things that hurt us before they have a chance to build up, that's how Pierce The Veil was born.
The band has written many songs. They have written 38, plus one acoustic version of their song "Hold On Till May" and they have also sung 2 cover songs. The cover songs are "Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars" and "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. Most if not all the songs Pierce The Veil has written, people can relate to.
Pierce The Veil's music has actual meaning. Also their music speaks to people. What I mean by their music speaking to people is that some of the people who listen to the band's music stay alive. What I mean by staying alive is when some of those people listen to their songs they don't take their life, or they stop self-harming. Vic, Mike, Tony, and Jaime have gotten letters from fans thanking them and saying how the band's music changed their lives. The band also has fans who go to the concerts and after the concerts at the meet and greets will thank the group.
One of Pierce The Veil's new songs is called "Bulls In The Bronx". Some of their fans awhile back sent them a message saying that their best-friend had committed suicide, due to people bullying her. The girl who committed suicide was a big fan. It breaks the hearts of the band to hear of instances like that. The song was partially inspired by what happened with the girl. Vic Fuentes said in an interview, "The song was kinda for her, for her friends, for family. Just out of respect for them.
Pierce The Veil has a connection with their fans that few bands can match. One of the reasons is their energetic stage shows and the fact they put on a good show. Also they have a sincere approach to their song writing. Pierce The Veil cares about their fans. Their fans are the main reason they wake up every day, or night in some cases, to put on shows and travel around the world. Their fans inspire them to do what they do.
Another Pierce The Veil song is "A Match Into Water" which was written for Vic's girlfriend at the time, now his ex, who had Breast Cancer. She has since recovered. She was going through that while they were on tour, and she was telling Vic about it. The song was a way for him to prove how proud he was of her for getting through the surgeries and Chemo therapy. Also he was proud of her for being strong and never giving up.
In most if not all of Pierce The Veil's songs have some screaming in it. However the whole entire song isn't screaming, or screamo the genre. If you look at the lyrics and pay attention you realize that they aren't bad songs. So you can't hate their music without giving it a chance.
Pierce The Veil has tattoos an piercings but most people in America and around the world do too. So people don't have the right to judge them for that.
Pierce The Veil donates funds and has participated in some charities such as "Keep A Breast Foundation" and the "Mitch Lucker Charitable Trust." In the days following the horrible devastating tragic passing, of the very own Suicide Silence's lead singer, Mitch Lucker who died in a car crash. Fellow musicians have come together to pay their respects and help Jolie Lucker, Mitch's loving wife, with Kenadee Lucker's education. Pierce The Veil made an announcement that they have launched an auction to benefit the Mitch Lucker Charitable Trust. A fund established by Suicide Silence that will go towards the education of Mitch and Jolie Lucker's daughter, Kenadee. Now you know a little bit more about the band Pierce The Veil.
Justin Bieber, who many think is inspiring is actually not such a good role model compared to Pierce The Veil. Did you know? That Justin said physical abuse is for a reason. And that he wrote in the guest book at Anne Frank's house that he "wishes she was a belieber." Also when he was asked to try being a vegan he gagged and spat out a steak that had been specially ordered for him. Unlike Warped Tour, Justin makes his fans pay tons of money to see him live even though he can afford having all the tickets be 50 bucks instead of 100+ for mezzanine seats.
In addition Justin went to a children's hospital in England he was talking to a nurse who was working there. When he, himself visited the hospital. Justin made them clear an area for him so he didn't have to wait around near the sick children, then we the time came, he spent about 5 minutes with the sick children. But only while the cameras were on and then he left. On the same day he visited the hospital he attacked one of the photographers at the hospital.
Some more things Justin has done is urinate in a restaurant kitchen. One time he called for a car to take him to the mall and he didn't like the color so he sent it back. And then when he got to that mall, he stayed about 5 minutes before saying it was the worst mall he'd even been in. Did you know Justin Bieber got banned from Walt Disney World for punching goofy. When he went to Vermont, he was kicked out of every single business he went into, like IHOP, Walmart, Hannafords, everywhere. He went to the movie theater and threw a tantrum when he was told he couldn't bring his subway sandwich into the theater, as it was against the rules. He made a HUGE, mess of the theater and had to be carried out by body guard kicking and screaming about how they were all worthless monkeys. Justin has also gotten into drugs. Anyways the list goes on even though Justin's songs aren't "bad" his actions and the stuff he does, is. When you think about it is this still a person you want your kid to have as a role mode? Or is this still a person you would want as a role model?
When people judge bands like Pierce The Veil by their looks or having a "different" music style, and say they are a bad influence as opposed to other musicians such as Justin Bieber they may not realize who is the bad influence. If you take the time to try the band out by giving them a chance then maybe you might realize that bands like Pierce The Veil aren't a "bad" influence. So when you think bands or people who listen to those bands are "different" or "weird" think about it. Don't judge things by how they look or seem. You never know what lies beneath.
One quote that I feel goes with this is "Sometimes the hardest thing to wear is our own skin."-Jayy Von Monroe or "There actually is light at the end of the tunnel." Also written by Jayy Von Monroe. Because when you think about it it's true. It is hard because everyone judges one thing or another. But no matter how much people are judged there is always a brighter side. You just have to wait and have hope.
