Greek: Khaos
Latin spelling: Chaos
Translation: Chasm, Gap
A beautiful woman was standing at the edge of the universe looking out at the stars. She had long waist length flowing black hair and tan skin. She had mesmerizing black eyes where you could get lost in their depth. But there were tears flowing down her face. This woman was Chaos, the first being to ever exist.Chaos was heartbroken. She had no one. The last thread which was the balance between good and evil snapped. The creator of the universe was overtaken. Evil was attracted to her. It was too late nothing could stop it. Neither her children nor the human who stole her heart.
She emerged more powerful than she ever was. She suddenly felt the rush to destroy everything she built. She felt an urge of hatred toward her creations. Even towards her once dear earth and the humans living in it.
She stepped onto earth right where the remaining Greek civilization was hiding. Did they really think that they could hide? She saw the gods and goddesses tremble under her stare. She felt good for some reason. That was weird. It was something that was not in her nature. Maybe it was a sign. But she ignored it and summoned her sword. It was pure black just like her eyes.
She let out a cruel laugh and said "So who wants to be sacrificed first?"
There was no answer. "If you don't volunteer yourself then I will have to choose. Hmm how about we start with the king of the Gods?"
Zeus squeaked and hid behind his wife Hera like the coward he was. This amused Chaos. But before she could do anything else her children were standing in front of her. Gaea, Eros, Tartarus, Nyx, and Erebus were all standing in front of her.
"Mother please stop this." said Erebus.
"Why should I? Erebus why don't you join me? It would be fun spreading darkness don't you think?"
The offer was tempting but before he could reply Eros interfered, "This is not you. Please come back to the Chaos we know and love."
"Love?" Chaos spat. The word made her want to throw up. Such a disgusting word. "What love, Eros? Where had it been when I needed it the most? It's a wretched curse! It all ends in heartbreak and betrayal! The world is better without it!" She said in anger and lifted her sword and brought it down to strike Eros when another sword interjected.
Standing in front of her was the man who stole her heart. Seeing him angered her more. The reason for everything. If he is dead then everything would be alright. All the problems would be solved. Her train of thoughts was stopped by a voice. His voice. A voice that she used to love.
"Chaos." He said warily. "Please stop. Let's go back. Back to when.... we were happy. I am sorry. I can explain. I was just shocked. But we can sort it out. Everything will be normal. Please. So...."
He got cut off by a laugh. "Normal? Are you out of your mind? If you loved me then you wouldn't have left me when I confessed. When I told you my truth. It's all a lie!"
"I am sorry. Please give me another chance. I just didn't feel worthy of you. You are the creator of the universe and I am a mere human. So, please. I will not leave you. I will be by your side. I love you Chaos. I love you." There was a genuine look on his face and tears were streaming down his face. Everyone was silent in anticipation of Chaos's answer. It could save or destroy them.
"You promise?" She asked in a small voice.
He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "I swear on the river Styx." He said opening his arms with an eye-blinding smile.
Chaos smiled and dropped her sword. She ran into his arms. They shared a long kiss. Everyone was happy. But this happiness did not last long.
His smile fell as soon as he felt something wet. He broke the kiss and looked down to see a knife sprouting from her body. Red blood was flowing. That was not possible. She was immortal. She had golden Ichor flowing in her veins. How could this be possible? He looked at the love of his life's beautiful face in disbelief. There were tears streaming down Chaos's face.
"I am so sorry. I am so sorry. I am so sorry....." she kept chanting. "It's too late. Evil has already taken over. There is no way to stop it now. The only way is to kill myself. If I kill myself you can live. Please forgive me and live on. Find someone else. Be happy." And she let go.
Everything stopped at her death. Time stopped, the Earth stopped rotating, and everything froze. Her last sight was his hand stretched towards her to stop her from hitting the ground.
The love of her life was heartbroken. He hugged her body close to him and started crying, begging her to wake up. He was unaware of his surroundings. The whole world was falling apart and no one could stop it. Now that the creator was dead, her creations were falling apart. Little did Chaos know her death would cause the end of the universe. The universe was swiped away, destroying everything. The only thing was nothingness. It was void, filled with Chasm. But there is something. A light. It's small but bright. This light you see was created out of Chaos and His infinite love for each other. This light is the hope for the existence of a new universe. As they say, history repeats itself.
The fates are playing a cruel game.
