It was a particularly cold September morning in Melbourne. This sort of weather reminded me of winter and I'm sure what everyone else wearing, jackets to beanies and gloves and whatever. They thought the same too. I was wearing a scarf because I don't like being cold. I was heading towards the State Library of Victoria as I had to study with a friend and that we had a test soon. The life in University kinda drains you out. Even though it was morning, the street of the library; Swanston was particularly busy. The street housed a University, Melbourne Central and the library it self and as well as a cathedral of some sort. Not only that, it also had two coffee havens of Starbucks and restaurants too. I think it's a prime destination for tourist and locals alike.
As I was shuffling through the crowds opposite of the direction they were heading, drawing sneers and cusses. I accidentally dropped some books I was holding in my right hand and got scathed by the locals.
Is this New York? I thought, thinking of the time I was in New York.
I picked my books up and stopped at a crossing, it was an intersection so it got pretty hectic around here. The lights turned red and everyone started walking in all directions. It was staggering. As I was walking, I looked down and let out a big groan. My shoes were crumpling and they costed about $180 dollars. I looked up and turned right, I had to go through another intersection. I waited, but this time I walked prematurely as there weren't any cars in sight. I continued to walk straight but I cut through diagnoally to head up towards the library.
The building that I walked towards was the State Library of Victoria. Opened in 1856 with about 3800 books in the collection. The library grew to be a pivotal monument for enlightenment and santurary for readers for citizens of Melbourne. Today, the library has 2.5 million books in it's collection. Not only that, the library was also a popular place for students to study as there are extensive and a huge abundance of areas to put a textbook down and read. There are also study rooms as well but judging from the noise level and nooks and crannies in the library, they weren't needed.
