Luna Valente likes to believe she is a fairly intelligent girl, she is not a borderline genius like Nina or Ámbar, but she is smart and hardworking and if she doesn't get something she will study as hard as she needs to be able to do it and that has always granted her pretty decent grades.Sadly for her, calculus doesn't seem to be one of those thing she will master on her own with just hard work and dedication.
She has tried to get help but with Nina pursuing her more artistic interest and studying literature, not having any mandatory math classes, and deciding to register in biology for her electives she can't really help her. Ámbar, who studies business and has calculus for economics, had tried but it ended up being a disaster with both of them shouting at each other and almost in the verge of tears (okay, maybe that was just her).
All of her other friends are on artistic careers also and can do nothing to help her, and it's not like any of them would want to touch anything related to math with a five foot pole. Yeah, she doesn't make good life choices.
Her phone distracts her from her misery with the alarm she setted up to remind her of her weekly saturday brunch (yes, brunch) with Sharon Benson and Ámbar.Despite the fact that it has been about two years since her parents, adoptive parents, finded out that she is actually Sol Benson and has a great fortune to her name, it still feels weird to her. Everything, from Acker's College, one of the best schools in south america, to every brunch she has with her aunt and Ámbar, her aunt's goddaughter, feels vaguely like a dream. Luna thinks she is not made to live in a world of such luxury and feels out of place in it, but thanks to it she met Nina, her best friend, so she can't really complain.
She quickly changes into something that won't make Sharon side eye the hell out her, and rushes to the Benson household...Well, manor.
There's something inherently weird in going to that place, because she remembers it, vaguely but she does, but at the same time all of those memories are almost like a dream, something she can't quite connect to reality.
She rings the doorbell and Amanda is there in a second.
"Good morning, miss valente." She greets with a soft smile on her face.
"Good morning, Amanda." She smiles brightly at her. "How are you? Is everyone going well with Cato?"
Amanda looks down blushing and Luna smiles.
"As well as anything can go with that man."Amanda answers her, and Luna laughs.
"How are your classes going?" Luna groans as an answer and Amanda puts a supportive hand on her right shoulder.
"Luna." Sharon's voice echoes on the marble walls and scares the shit out of her. She looks at the older woman with a tight smile on her face, Luna knows her aunt doesn't approve the fact that she is in such good terms with the staff for some reason she can't quite understand, or maybe it's just because she is kind of an awful person.
"Aunt." She exclaims before smiling to Amanda and walking towards the dining room. "How have you've been?"
"Well enough." Sharon answers coolly sitting down at the top of the table. Ámbar rolls her eyes and then smiles at Luna when she sits in front of her. "What I wanna know is how have you been? Are you still struggling with your classes?"
The question itself feels like a judgement and she can see Ámbar tensing on her behalf, but says nothing. It's kinda sad that for her this is normal.
"I'm doing great with most of my classes now, thanks." Luna answers politely.
"Most of them?"Sharon raises an eyebrow.
