two choices.

she liked to make her choices.

she didn't like them given.

so when it was cold outside,

when roads abandoned,

she'd climb to the tops of towers.

place her toes over the edge,

it gave her the power.

she'd look down at what she faced;

a concrete life; comfortable, paved.

she'd give herself two choices to make.

she could jump;

free for a second,

free from abandonment.

then she'd stop.

or she could back away,

surrender her power that needed to be tamed.

and every time,

every cold night her toes hang over the side,

she'd step away.

surrender her body to the cold,

her mind sold,

to old feelings she once had,

to loving dangerous;

to loving bad.
