The definition of "Maternal Instinct" is a woman wanting to have and care for a child; or caring for people in a nurturing, mother-like way. Many women have this instinct, however there are some that do not. The majority of women that do not have this instinct will still have children. As an end result these children can be effected in many negative ways. My mental health and childhood development have been altered greatly due to the fact that my mother never had a maternal instinct.
