Were were only a few hours into the trip and my sister was asleep in the seat next to me, her eyes red and puffy. My stomach rumbled and I knew I couldn't keep ignoring it.
I sighed. "Jerry, could we stop somewhere to eat?" I asked him.
We were on the interstate and I had been watching signs pass us, advertising food and gas stations and many other attractions. A few minutes ago I had seen a large sign for Pizza Ranch, advertising a large buffet, the sign showing very real looking pictures of pizza, potatoes, and salads.
Jerry turned into the next lane, taking the exit. "Where to?"
"Pizza Ranch." I said, not having to think twice.

A total of ten minutes later we were pulling into the pizza ranch parking lot. We had stopped abruptly at the stop light before our turn and that jolted my sister awake.
"Where are we?" She asked sleepily. I pointed to the large sign on the building in response.
All three of us clambered out of the car and into the building. Jerry being the kind guy he was paid for the three buffets, one for each of us. We were seated at a small table and the kind lady who brought us to our table asked us what we wanted for drinks.
"Cherry Coke," my sister and I said at the same moment. We smiled weakly and Jerry ordered his next.
"A diet Coke for me please." He said. The lady nodded and headed off after telling us we could grab some plates and go up to the buffet.
They had an assortment of foods, and I got just about everything. My plate consisted of a slice of buffalo chicken pizza, and slice of Hawaiian pizza, a scoop and a half of mashed potatoes with gravy covering it, potato wedges covered in shredded cheese and bacon bits, and a small bowl of salad with french dressing layering the top.
Jerry raised an eyebrow at me as I finally sat down at the table. I shrugged at him and smiled. "I'm hungry."
"I can see that," He chuckled. After we all had begin eating he spoke again, "How old are you girls? Your Aunt made no mention of your ages."
My sister spoke this time, noticing my mouth was full of food, "I'm 16, Lana is 17."
Jerry nodded, "I'm 23. I figured it would only be right to ask if I told you mine as well." He smiled kindly.
We talked a while more and about an hour or so later we were back on the road, headed to South Dakota.
