Liam
I arrived at the house the party was at around 10 o'clock. The house was on the bad side of town. There were hooded figures walking down the middle of the streets, the street lamps didn't work, garbage cans were tipped over and dogs were barking. There were plenty of cigarette butts on the ground, some I'm sure were homemade blunts.
I quickly walked up the driveway, not feeling comfortable, and knocked on the door. I could smell alcohol and smoke from the doorstep, and I could hear shouting and cheering from inside.
The door was opened by a girl wearing a sports bra and athletic shorts. I stuck my hands in my pockets.
"Is this Pembroke's house?" I asked, raising my voice so she could hear me over the sounds from inside.
"Yeah. I'm Jada. Glad you could make it." She sent me a smile, and took a sip from the red cup she was holding. She had dark — almost black — hair and brown eyes.
"Liam." She nodded, pulling the door open the rest of the way. The house was big and open on the inside, perfect for a house party. I walked through the foyer. There was a large marble staircase straight ahead of me, and what looked like a sitting room to my left. On my right, there was a closed door. Teenagers were standing around, talking, dancing to the blasting music, and snogging.
I looked around a bit, but couldn't catch sight of any purple hair. Just then, the door that was closed next to the staircase was opened, and out stumbled a guy my age, pulling his shirt on over his head.
A minute after, out came Pembroke Auden Mitchell, fluffing her pastel hair and fixing her light lipstick.
"Well, well, well," she drawled once she spotted me. "If it isn't Liam James Payne."
"Hi." I said, shoving my hands into my pockets again. "Great party."
"Right?" She agreed, looking around. She paused for a minute. "I didn't think you'd come."
"I'm surprised I came, to be honest." I told her. "I don't usually come to these things."
"Well, I'm glad I could convince you to come, Liam James Payne." I smiled.
"Yo Pembroke!" Some guy called from the other side of the sitting room. Pembroke rolled her eyes.
"Ugh, I've gotta go, see y'around." She said, touching my arm briefly before walking away. Alrighty then, I thought. I headed to the kitchen, where a stack of red cups were sitting next to a bowl of what I assumed was punch.
I knew it was most likely spiked, but I filled a cup anyway.
Jada had disappeared. Pembroke had ran off with a few guys. I didn't know anyone else.
I looked around helplessly. I didn't really know what to do, I'd never really been to a high school party before. I guess I could dance. Or I could start talking to a stranger. Or I could find Pembroke.
I decided on the latter.
I finally found her near the back door. She had a beer bottle in her hand and was talking to a girl and a guy. She was swaying slightly, probably a little drunk.
"Hey! It's Liam James Payne!" She yelled over the music. I gave her a smile.
"Are you okay? You seem a little tipsy." I told her.
She shrugged. "Yeah, that tends to happen."
She started giggling and hiccupping. I raised my eyebrows.
"Maybe you should lie down for a bit."
"No way! Loosen up, Liam James Payne. I didn't throw this party so I could 'lie down for a bit.'" She quoted me. I didn't want her running around not knowing what she was doing, or not be able to remember anything tomorrow.
"Hand me a blunt." She said suddenly to the girl standing beside her. The girl reached into her back pocket and fumbled with a homemade cigarette pack, before giving one to Pembroke. She lit up the blunt and took a puff, then let her arm hang by her side.
"You smoke?" I asked, surprised. This girl is not what I expected at all.
She snorted. "Of course. Let me tell you something, Liam James Payne. You will not meet a single person who lives on this side of town and doesn't smoke something."
She gestured around the room. She was right, most people were smoking. Her two friends were holding blunts as well.
"Oh, that's Lauren." Pembroke said. I guess she saw me looking at them. "And that's Bradley."
Lauren waved slightly, and Bradley just gave me a nod. Lauren had shoulder length platinum blonde hair, and crystal clear blue eyes. Bradley had blonde side-swept hair, with green eyes.
"They're cousins, if you were wondering." Pembroke said. I nodded my head, sending the cousins a smile.
"Uh, Pembroke, I should be getting home." I told her, after checking the time on my watch. It was almost 2am.
"Aw, c'mon, Liam James Payne! The party's just getting started!" She slurred, seeming drunk again. I found it oddly fascinating how she could go from being stupid drunk, to perfectly fine and back again.
"And I told you to call me Brooke!" She practically whined, stomping her feet and almost spilling her beer all over herself.
"Uh, okay, well I'm going now." I said awkwardly, jabbing a thumb in the direction of the front door.
"Okay! See ya, Liam James Payne!" She giggled, her mood doing a complete 180 degree turn. She placed her hands on my shoulders and stood on her tiptoes to give me a quick kiss on the cheek. I blushed, starting to turn away.
"I'm just going — I'll just — I'm gonna — yeah." I stuttered, as Brooke continued to giggle.
I blame the alcohol.
I walked out of Brooke's massive house, avoiding the teenagers in the front yard. There were a few girls in shorts and bikini tops, and some guys who were only wearing socks and shoes. That's all they were wearing.
"Hey, baldy!" One of the guys called. Just my luck, I thought. I turned to look at him. He was technically naked, just wearing his Nike's. I kept my eyes on his face. I'm not bald, either, I just have a buzz cut. "Where're you off to?"
"Home," I shouted back. He scoffed, and turned back to his friends.
I shook my head, and started to walk towards the bus stop at the end of the street.
Jay-dah. If you were wondering. Hi Jada!!
