"Liam babe, the guests will be arriving any minute now. We sure everything's settled?" I say. "Yeah baby, just warm up the food so we don't have to do it when they arrive." "Alright."

DING-DONG

"I'll get it!" Liam said as he headed towards the door. "Harold! Tommo! Good to see you guys again." Liam stretched out his arms to hug the couple. "Darcy! How've u been?" Liam said as he kneeled down to her height to hug her. I joined them. "Hey Harry. Hey Louis. Glad you guys could make it!" I say, pulling them into a hug. "Good to see you guys as well. We've missed you guys! How've you guys been?" Harry asked. "Great, thanks for asking." Liam answered. Liam led the couple to the living room and the doorbell rang again. This time I got it.

I opened the door to reveal a man I haven't seen before. Did I invite this man? Or was it Liam? Who is this man?

"H-hi?" I say. "Hi, are you Liam's husband?" "Uh yeah. Why?" Just then I heard Liam's voice from behind me. "Mark!" he said as he embraced him into a hug, him doing the same. Who is this Mark guy and how does Liam know him? "Liam, who's this?" "A friend from work babe, Mark this is Zayn." "Hi Zayn. Nice to meet you." he says.

A friend from work my ass, I think to myself. But I try not to worry too much about the man. They're probably just good friends like Liam has said.

I welcome the man into our house. Other family members arrived after that moment. My best friend, Niall and his wife Maria, my mother, my sisters, Liam's parents and his sister Ruth. They greet us and our children.

Everyone shared stories with enough laughs and giggles, except me, who would occasionally fake a laugh when someone would look my way. I was too focused on Liam. He sat next to Mark on the couch, and they were awfully close to each other and the sight gave me shivers down my spine. They seemed like they were having a great time. Liam, not once looked my way, he was too focused on Mark.

I got up from where I was sitting and went to the kitchen as I couldn't take the sight any longer. Gabriella followed me. "Daddy. You alright?" she asks. "Yes baby, I'm fine," I say as I set up the dinner table, "tell the guests dinner is ready." "Okay."

"Guys! Dinner is ready!" I could hear Gabriella saying. Soon the guests were seated on the dinner table. I was to sit next to Liam, but Mark already took my seat. I didn't want to be seen as disrespectful so I just took a seat next to Noah.

Again, everyone shared laughs and jokes, except me. I was quiet. My mood was down and I did not want to say a word. I would occasionally take a short glance at Liam and Mark. I silently ate my food, helping Noah out whenever he needed. I looked at Liam and Mark once more. Liam fed Mark some chips and the sight made me so uncomfortable. Do friends from work feed  each other ? No they do not.

I excused myself and went to the bathroom. I no longer wanted to be there, in the same room as them, having to see my husband feed a stranger in front of my face. I stayed in the bathroom for quite some time.  Trying not to break down was hard.  But I handled it. And once I felt better, I made my way back to the guests.

Everyone finished eating and was in the living room. I went and took a seat next to Liam who was next to Mark, but I tried not to mind him. Liam, for once focused on me and not on Mark. "Daddy!" Noah groaned, stretching his hands to sit on Liam's lap. Liam picked him up and pressed a kiss on his cheek. The sight made me happy for once in the night and I smiled. "I love you Liam." I say. "You too," he says.

The clock was almost striking 12, and everyone was with their loved ones. Everyone started counting down and I joined them.

"HAPPY NEW YEARS!"

I turned my head to kiss Liam, but he.... he was already kissing Mark.
