I was sitting with my brother's body in my hand. Every moment I had spent with him......every happy memory, sad memory.......everything was running through my mind. I didn't know what I had done to deserve such pain. I didn't understand anything...... I was so confused. What was happening. How did mom and Louis die? Why did my father try to kill me? There were so many questions in my mind. But I was not getting any answers!!

I knew what I should do next. But I just couldn't get my body to move. After about 30 minutes, I gathered my strength and stood up. I had to figure out what was wrong with dad. I went and opened the door to dad's bedroom. I didn't go close to him. I was afraid he would try to kill me again. I just watched him from far. He was not moving. He did not blink. His eyes were hollow. It looked like his soul had been sucked out of his body. At that moment I understood that he was not dad anymore.......he was something else.

I closed the door again. I decided to go to Kiara's house. She was alone and waiting for me. I took my keys and got out of the house. I went to my garage, started my car and drove out of my driveway. As soon as I reached the road.......the scene that awaited was terrifying. There were cars smashed into each other, into buildings and what not. But that wasn't the most horrifying thing. There were bodies all around. There were hundreds of dead people on the streets. I just couldn't understand what could cause such destruction. It all felt like a scene from an apocalyptic novel or the plot of The Walking Dead.

If you haven't figured it out yet......I am a total geek and a nerd. I am one of the toppers in my class and love to read sci-fi novels. I was addicted to Computer Gaming......like crazy. I can read a 200 page book within 6 hours and play Assassin's Creed for 10 hours straight. Yes, that's how crazy I am. It still felt like a nightmare to me.

But the most intriguing question was why was I still alive??

Looking at the road, I understood that I could never reach Kiara's place in my car. I had to find another way. After thinking for a while, I saw a bicycle lying on the footpath. Its rider was lying next to it. I checked if he was alive......he wasn't. I took the bicycle and started ascending down the road. Kiara lived about 2Km away from my house. Between these 2 kms, everyone I saw was dead.

After about 15 mins,  I reached her place. I called her up on her cell and asked her to let me in. She opened the door. As soon as I entered, she clinged onto me and started crying. I couldn't do any thing. I just held her and let her cry. In a few moments, I realized that I had also started crying. We cried together in each other's arms for what seemed like hours.

I asked her to tell me everything. She said "I was cooking with mom and suddenly she fell on the ground. I went close to her and asked if she was OK. But she didn't reply. She didn't move. I was tensed. So I yelled for dad to come. But he did not come...... I didn't understand why. I went to the hall to check on him and he too was lying on the ground motionless. I checked their pulse and found that I had lost them. That's when I called you."

Then I told her what I had seen on the way here. She was shocked but she never stopped crying. I didn't stop her from crying. She had to deal with it now.

But I just couldn't watch her cry. And I also couldn't leave her alone. So I concentrated on what came next. I realized that the problems had just begun. We had to deal with our losses right now but we also had to get out of the city and reach a safe place.

I was just grateful for the fact that I would not be totally alone. Kiara is with me. My best friend was with me!!!!
