The struggle.
Free to be
I'm dedicating this piece to my nation, my country, for its independence and my love for it.
Today, the 12th of December 2013 we celebrate a jubilee year almost coming to an end, we celebrate the strong warrior's who protected the will of her country, we celebrate Kenya's 50th Jamhuri day:)
Jamhuri means freedom in swahili (#^.^#)

Being one is the pride of us,
Bondage we were subjected to until 1963,
Truth be told I wasn't even three,
Nor were the captured soldiers free,
They’d been hang on every tree.
All that they did in the past,
It's amazing, time moves fast,
The battles,
From their shackles,
All they wanted was a life,
To have children; if not, a wife.
They had no quality weapons,
Nor fellow soldiers to weep-on,
Yet still they fought,
The ruthlessness leaders bore in their thoughts,
Many were lost,
But hope deemed the cost,
For here we are now,
Free,
To be us,
Not enslave our bodies like some ass,
To be anything,
To be everything,
To live,
To love,
To laugh,
Like dove, we dive in for hope,
Happy to be here,
Everyone to hear,
Songs of joy, we celebrate this day,
Free and happy none to pay,
All thanks to the Mighty Lord!
He granted as this feeling and took off the Load,
That had broken the hearts of many,
Killed the bodies, indeed they were plenty,
And tortured their souls it drove them crazy.
All thanks to Him,
Here we are,
Free to be.
