Based on the song Die A Happy Man by Thomas Rhett

"Sam what are we doing here?", you asked and smiled as you took a look around the roof of some office building in Minneapolis.
He smiled back at you: "We're here because I wanted to tell you something. And I wanted do it somewhere private."
You raised your eyebrows: "What can be so important that you drag me up on a roof? I'm not committing suicide with you by the way."
He laughed at your black humor and then came over to hold your hands and you still had a half smile on your face when he started talking: "Yesterday, when we heard Marvin Gaye and drank this expensive bottle of wine you stole from that supermarket, that was hands down the best night of my life."

You spun around, holding the bottle of wine to your mouth like a microphone: "Oooh baby, I'm hot just like an oven I need some lovin'", you sang along to the lines of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual healing", while Sam laughed so hard he had tears running down his face.
You hadn't had that much fun in a long time and you took another sip before dancing over to the bed where he was sitting and stood between his legs: "I love you so damn much, Sam Winchester", you said and kissed him while he cupped your face with his hands.

You grinned at him: "That was one of the best nights of your life? Good to know that you have such low standards.
He shrugged: "The look you had on your face, the way you were enjoying yourself, it just got to me. Of course that isn't the only fond memory I have of the two of us. Another favorite thing is that night we danced in the dark under the September stars in the pouring rain."

"You're crazy", Sam stated and you just chuckled: "Common grumpy, I just want to have some fun."
You pulled at his hand but he remained standing: "It's raining cats and dogs out there and it's freezing cold. You're going to get sick."
Without listening to him, you opened the door of the motel room: "Life's short, especially for us. So let's go have some fun."
The smile in his eyes told you that he finally agreed and you led him outside where you immediately started spinning around, he holding one of your hands up.
Every bit of was soaked with the rain within seconds, but you didn't care, you just enjoyed being with Sam.
He placed a hand on your lower back and started swinging you around to the rhythm of a silent tune: "I love you", he whispered in your ear and you smiled: "I love you too."

"Yeah, that was pretty awesome", you admitted, still wondering where he was going with this, but apparently he wasn't finished yet so you said nothing and just continued to listen.
"I also remember how many times you ask me which dress I liked better when we dressed up as FBI agents."

"Which one looks better?", you asked and held up your red and your black dress, the only two you've got and every time it was hard to pick which one too wear.
Sam looked up from tying his shoes: "They both look perfect on you."
You rolled your eyes: "Don't sweet talk me."
He chuckled: "Well, then don't ask me."
You turned away with a big smile on your face.

"Yeah, I also remember that. And every time you chickened out of telling me which one you liked better., you told him and he sighed: "Alright, you want to know what I think about those dresses?"
You nodded and he smiled: "I think the red dress brings me to my knees and the black dress makes it hard to breath."
You frowned: "Now you're sweet talking again."
Sam shook his head: "No, I'm not. Do you want to hear me sweet talking? You're a saint, you're a goddess, the cutest, the hottest. A masterpiece. It's too good to be true, and there's nothing better than you in my wildest dreams."
Even though you usually hated this romantic crap, you couldn't help but smiled: "Exaggerating much?"
He shook his head again: "No, just telling you what I feel."
"But why all of this? What is going on Sam?", you asked, already getting a little suspicious, "you didn't cheat on me, did you?"
Immediately he shook his head: "No, god no."
He then fumbled in his pocket and got out a small black box.
You frowned: "Sam, what are you doing? Don't tell me..."
Before you could finish your sentence he popped open the box with the ring in it and smiled at you:
"All I know is that I can't ever tell you enough that your love, however crazy it might be, is all I need. If I never get to see the northern lights, or never get to see the Eiffel Tower at night, if all I've got is your hand in mine, maybe I can die a happy man. I don't need no vacation to some fancy place because you're my great escape.
For all I care, we can stay home and dance around the fire place."
"You're crazy", you said with shock in your voice. Was this really happening?
But he just continued talking: "I'm serious. If I never get to build my mansion in Georgia or never get to drive some sports car up the coast in California or whatever, I'm going to be happy forever. As long as I got you.
And now that you know how I feel, I hope you can understand why I really need you to marry me."
You held out your hand and he put the ring on your finger:
"What if I say no?", you teased and he pulled you closer: "Because of that possibility I never asked you. Just informed you."
You grinned: "I love you so much you idiot."
He pressed a kiss to your forehead: "I love you too."
