It was late at night when HeeBin got the call from her manager "What? You want me to go on a variety program? Why?"
"They need one more person and asked for you" he replied happily.
"Why me? I'm not that popular."
"They are looking for unknown actresses to guest on the show."
"What is the show about?"
"They said it would be like a cross between Running Man and BAP's Killing Camp. Basically, they will give you challenges and you have to complete them to earn points. The person with the highest score at the end, wins."
She thought that it sounded fun, but as an actress she shouldn't show that she likes competitive stuff. "I guess that would be okay."
Her manager breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't know what to do if she said no. "Great! You will need to be at the office by 4 am tomorrow for hair and makeup."
"Why? I thought it was about challenges. Why do I need to have my hair and makeup done?"
"I'm just telling you what the boss said. He wanted you to come in for light makeup and hair before you go to the set. I think he was hoping that you might get more offers by doing this program. Anyways, they said that they would need you at the filming site by 5 am."
"Okay!" she said as she hung up the phone. "Might as well go to bed early then" she mumbled as she hit the lights and strolled off to her bedroom.
The morning came too fast and she quickly threw on some casual clothing for the show. She knew that she would be running around doing challenges of some sort so she put on a pair of comfortable jeans and a somewhat dressy top. Then she grabbed a pair of sneakers and ran out the door. She arrived at the company and her stylist said that her outfit was perfect and that she would only need a little makeup.
When her stylist was finished, her manager drove her to the filming location. "It looks like I won't be able to stay with you today" he frowned.
"Don't worry about it" she smiled. She knew that her manager also managed one of the big talents at her company and that he only helped her out because she was just a background actress who would be easy to manage. "Say hi to Unnie for me."
"Try not to cause any trouble and follow their instructions."
She smiled "Okay!" She waved as he drove off. Then she made her way over to the film crew for the program. She approached the PD and said "Hello!" with a bright smile.
"Can I help you?" he asked, obviously confused as to who she was and why she was there.
"I'm Jang HeeBin, with Future Entertainment. It's a pleasure to be working with you today" she said with a bow.
"You're Jang HeeBin?"
HeeBin smiled half heartedly. She knew it would be like this. No one ever thinks that she is an actress. "Yes!"
"I see. Come with me. I was just about to explain everything to the others." He led her over to a small group of six girls around her age who were waiting with their managers. "Now that you are all here, I'll explain what is going to happen. You will all be blindfolded and driven to a designated location. There you will receive instructions on what you have to do to pass the challenge and move onto the next stage. There will be a total of five challenges that you have to complete and then you will have to find your way to the final location." He looked around at the girls "Are there any questions?"
HeeBin raised her hand and asked "Are we allowed to ask for help?"
The PD looked at her and chuckled. 'This girl is really into it! And here I thought I was going to be dealing with wanna be drama queens' he thought to himself and then handed out a packet to each girl. "Here is a list of 'rules' for the program. Basically, you will earn points for each challenge. When you reach the final location, your points will be tallied up and the person with the most points wins."
