I was being held captive against my own will. The conclusion was obvious. They wanted something from me, and they weren't going to let me go until they figured out whatever it was that they wanted to know.
I was no longer residing in the medical room, but an actual bedroom. It was quite bare. With a queen sized bed that rest in the middle of the room, and an old dresser pressed against the left wall... it held nothing worth any meaningful value. No pictures, whether it be of pantings or people.
Sighing, I fell back onto the bed. I had finally gained control over my limbs. Though there was still a little pain residing in my leg, I felt as if the incident in the forest had never happened. My fast recovery had made me truly wondering who these people were. Because there's no way I could have healed quickly from that fall that I unfortunately had to for take. For a moment the thought of them possessing a power similar to the one in which Alec had has briefly crossed my mind... though I found myself brushing it off for reasons unknown.
I didn't want to admit it to myself, but I felt as if deep down a small part of me missed being in the home of the Petrovics. Wishing I had never volunteered to step one foot into that forest. I know that I haven't been gone for that long, but it surely felt long enough to me.
My mind would occasionally drift to Alec and his mesmerizing green eyes, but just as the thought had come I would scold myself and shake the thought clear of my head. I didn't want to think of Alec... I couldn't think of him.
I'm not sure how long I laid there staring up at the ceiling. My fingers mindlessly twirling a loose tendril of my hair. Could have been hours before someone finally decided to barge through that door. And to my luck it just happened to be Cane followed by two other men built of the same structure. Their shoulders were broad, their faces turned into a conniving glare.
Sitting up, I leaned my back against the heap of pillows lying amongst the headboard. My eyes watching Cane like a hawk as he moved to stand near the foot of the large framed bed. "So..." Crossing his arms over his chest, Cane trailed his eyes over me as if he were searching for something . "We need to talk."
"Where's my friend." I mumbled. The thought of Alice being out there all on her own was plaguing my mind like a disease. So it didn't come off as a shock to me when my question came out a little snippy and harsh then intended. "I was looking for her when I blacked out." I was worried. Not only for her but her sister Celia. Who I'm sure was probably having an internal breakdown, not knowing whether or not her twin sister was okay.
"What were you two doing out in the forest during the storm in the first place?" Cane's question was clashing with my very own. He wanted answers... and so did I.
"Alice, she ran off. I volunteered to look for her." Frowning, I loosely wrapped my arms around my torso. "You saw her out there... didn't you?" At the mention of Alice I didn't miss the glaze that overtook Cane's eyes, but just as fast as it had appeared it was gone. "Please just tell me that she's okay." My voice was full of hope. Hope for Alice... hope for Celia. But as I watched the brief exchange between Cane and one of the men standing behind him, that hope slowly started to dwindle down to fear and anxiousness.
"Come. I'll take you to her." As soon as the words left the mouth of Cane I found myself stumbling out of the bed, nearly tripping over my own two feet as I did. "Careful." Eyeing my wearily Cane motioned for me to follow him, which I did. "We don't need to make another trip to Dr. Walsh."
"Right, sorry." I could feel my cheeks warm from the embarrassment of being so clumsy. Lately I seemed to be more accident prone then ever. The last thing I needed on my list of problems was another one.
