I've always dreamed of being in a fairy tale, full of joy and a perfect happy ending. Now, I can't even move a muscle. Pain was inching up my spine, along the tingling sensation of pure...emptiness.The fluorescent lights glared down at me as peoples' faces flashed above me. The look of worry and the look I've always dreaded, the look of pity. They were rushing me somewhere, probably an emergency surgery or something. I was tired, and I just felt broken.
Time seemed to speed up as I became even drowsier. The shouting I heard before suddenly became inaudible, and I heard nothing but my own breathing. I managed to make myself smirk a little bit, thinking about the dramatic near-death scenes in movies. Then it dawned on me.
I immediately reverted back to my painful, drowsy state thinking, I'm going to die. Plaudits rang in my head as if an audience was cheering at my final realization. My head pounded with panic and I strained to move only managing to turn my head to my left. I caught a glimpse of my brother's cloudy grey eyes, and my heart filled with pain.
He was clutching his shoulder. It was attached to a bloodied arm. I groaned imagining reaching out to reach out and hug him as we did when we were little. The terrible thoughts of "would I ever do this again" hung in my head like a looming shadow. I wanted it all to be normal, but I couldn't change that moment.
I tried to muster all my strength, but my body became incapacitated by the tormenting pain. As soon as my brain instigated my immense need for rest, my body complied and I felt like I was going to be shut down...forever. My fairy tale fantasy was being ruined by the second, and the endless void of darkness swallowed me whole. At last, there was one agonizing thought that obsessed my mind; will I never get my happy ending?
