Chapter Twenty

Louis' POV

Last night, I went home after Harry had calmed down. Once I got home, I called Niall and told him everything. He stayed on the phone with me until I fell asleep. I honestly have no clue what I'd do without him.

Niall said something last night that I've been thinking about...

"If he loved you, he wouldn't try to hurt you in any way."

I know that he doesn't mean to be rude.. He can't help it. It's not that I like arguing with Harry, he's just so damn infuriating.

"Louis," My mum called out.

I walked out of my room and to the beginning of the staircase, "Yes?"

"Niall's here."

"Oh, alright.."

Niall's smiling face appeared around the corner.

"Hey Lou." He said, sounding extremely happy.

"Hi Niall." I chuckled.

He jogged up the stairs.

"I know that Ha-"

My eyes widened... Having my mum at the end of the steps, it wasn't a good idea to say Harry.

"I know that Edward is supposed to pick you up, but I just thought we could walk to school like we used to." He sounded so pitiful.

"Of course we can. I need some distance from him for a while,"

"Is everything okay?" My mum butted in.

I faked a smile, "Yeah, everything's great."

*************

[From: Haz<3] Where are you?

I deleted the message before I replied.

[From: Haz<3] Louis, answer me.

I rolled my eyes and turned my phone off.

"You okay?" Niall whispered.

I nodded.

"What'd he do?"

The bell rang before I could answer. I quickly collected my things and shoved them in my bag. I walked out of the room, waiting for Niall by the door.

"Seriously, what'd he do?"

I shook my head, "Nothing, honestly."

"Then what is it?"

"I didn't tell him that I was walking with you this morning and he's probably mad.. And I haven't returned any of his texts or calls."

"I'd be mad too.."

My eyes widened, "Don't side with him!"

Niall put up his hands in defense, "I'm not. I'm just saying, I'd be worried too."

"I'm kinda scared to turn my phone on." I said, trying to change the subject.

"Then don't.. wait 'til you get home."

I nodded, "I probably will."

Niall and I walked outside of the building.

"I forgot to tell you, mum said I can't go to the cafe tonight.. so, just call me when you get home, yeah?"

I nodded and hugged him, "Yeah. See ya tomorrow."

 *************

I decided to go ahead and go to the cafe alone. I stayed there for almost two hours. I finished the preparation for finals and then some extra credit. I glanced down at my phone. I still hadn't turned it on.

You can do this.. How bad could it be?

I took a deep breath and pressed and held the lock button until the screen lit up. I laid it face down on one of my notebooks as all of the messages came through. 12 texts and 6 missed calls.

"Unbelievable." I whispered.

I opened all of the text messages. Ten of them were from Harry, one from Fizzy, and one from Niall. I quickly scrolled through Harry's messages.. All of them having something to do with me not answering. Fizzy wanted me to call her. And Niall's saying: Stay strong.. Don't let him get to you. He was the best. Without a doubt.

I closed my books and neatly placed them in my backpack. I zipped it up and stood up. I put it on and left a tip on the table. I slid my phone in my pocket and walked out of the cafe.

As I walked down the street, I noticed it was a lot later than I thought. The sky was dark, but the sun was still present. While I walked, flashbacks of that night played in my mind. I could hear Lottie screaming. When I got to the alleyway, I glanced down. I closed my eyes, not wanting my mind to play tricks on me. Just as I was about to turn the corner, somebody grabbed me. Shoving a rag against my nose and mouth... Within seconds, everything was black.
