"This is ridiculous, I told you I didn't want to be a vampire."
"You look fine, it's not my fault you wanted to go to this party and I had to pick up last minute costumes."
I look over at my boyfriend, who stood huffing like a child in the doorway between our bathroom and bedroom.
His light hair, that somehow seemed to go from light blond to white in a way I always loved, was slicked back with copious amounts of gel.
He'd applied some eyeliner to his lower eyelids and the black brought out the blue in a way that I loved, perhaps I could talk him into using eyeliner again sometime in the future.
He fiddled with a black cape that was fastened at the throat, the gold clip resting against the ruffled collar of the white shirt he wore under a striking, dark red vest that matched the inside of the cape. The outfit was finished off with black formal trousers and black shoes.
A very stereotypical Dracula costume.
"No, Mika," I sigh, looking up from adjusting my own costume. "You said you didn't want to dress up altogether, vampire or not."
"And I meant it."
I rolled my eyes as he scrunched up his face, his tongue running over the fake fangs he'd put in place. Part of me worried that he'd lick the fake blood off the side of his mouth, but if he did then the horrible chemical taste would probably serve him right for being so whiney.
"And I would have been fine with that, but you just had to jump and say yes to Yu's Halloween party invitation."
Mika stopped his fiddling and looked over, I knew that he knew I had a point.
"I didn't jump," he replied.
"You did, like you always do when Yuichiro suggests anything," I stand up and adjust my tight dress. "Sometimes I swear you love him more than me."
Mika rolled his eyes, a movement I caught in the reflection of the mirror I was using. He crossed his arms over his chest, his outfit rustling as he moved, and leant against the wooden doorframe.
"That's as ridiculous as this outfit."
"Yet you didn't outright deny it," I grinned, my own fake fangs showing in the process.
"Because you know it's a stupid thing to say."
I fight the urge to flip off my overdramatic boyfriend, instead choosing to gather my small, black shoulder bag from the end of the bed. Having a rifle through to make sure everything I may need it there before turning to face him, with a wide smile.
"Stop whining, he's your friend and if you behave tonight perhaps I'll even reward you."
He quirked a thin eyebrow, his eyes glancing over my dress, obviously lingering on certain curves.
"What kind of reward?"
He only learned a sly look with a smirk, my eyes briefly flickering up and down his costume as he had done to me mere seconds ago.
I walk past him and pull our front door open, the coy look still plastered on my face.
"Oh, you know."
