CHAPTER 7

"Over there will be two stone benches with Talan and Elana Marie carved into them." Jace said as we walked through the construction. Today was the first day of construction on our memory garden. Stopping Jace turned around and looked at me, "Right where we are standing will be a park, filled with slides, swings, and a number of other things." I smiled at the thought, a place made for Talan. As we walked back to Jace's car I saw a number of volunteers digging holes and planting huge lilac bushes. I could just imagine Talan playing in the park, as I sat beside Jace with the faint smell of lilac blossoms surrounding us. Sitting beside Jace. I knew from now on Jace and I were in eachothers lives forever. We were building something great together, something worthwhile. Wherever our lives take us we would always come back to this place.

"In about two weeks time all the construction will be done." Jace said as we were driving back to the house.

Looking out the window at the ocean I smiled at the thought, in two weeks time all this stress would be worth it because i'd have the money to pay for Talan's transplant. Looking over at Jace I reached out and rested my hand on his as he drove. He didn't flinch nor take his hand away he simply interlaced our fingers. "Thank you for everything." I muttered.

Jace glanced at me and grinned, "Of course."

We drove in silence the whole way home, our hands didn't separate until we arrived.

Talan was inside watching TV with Ashton when I walked in. Ashton jumped up from where he was sitting and gestured for me to follow him outside. Jace took Ashtons spot on the couch as we left to talk.

"I'd like to take Talan into the hospital for the weekend." Ashton said in his professional doctor voice. I was shocked, from my understanding Talan was getting better. "What? Why?" I questioned.

"No worries. He's doing remarkably well. I just want to bring him in for some of my colleagues to see.Their quite interested in his profile and would love to see him for themselves." Ashton responded.

I didn't like the idea of being away from Talan for a whole weekend, but Ashton convinced me. Talan was going to be driving back to the city with Ashton, then they would return early Monday morning. I was confident I could survive a few days without him, maybe i'll have a spa day.

The morning they left Talan was all smiles, he was excited to be having a guys weekend with Ashton. Jace and I waved goodbye as they pulled away, Talan blew me a kiss as they disappeared down the road. My heart felt heavy with love for my little boy, making it hard to breath.

Jace nudged my arm and smiled down at me, "I guess it's just you and me tonight."

I nodded while we both made our way inside the house and parted our ways. I'm not sure where Jace went and what he did, but he didn't come home until later that night with take out in hand. I was perched upon the couch when he came and sat next to me with two plates of pizza. As we ate and watched movies I felt Jace scoot closer to where I was sitting. In the corner of my eye I saw him intently watching me, watching to see if I scooted away or stayed still. I didn't move. For some unknown reason I wanted to be closer to Jace. I felt like I needed him so close that not even a piece of paper could get between us. Jace slowly got closer and I turned towards him. We were sitting there looking in each others eyes, when I realized how attractive he really was. His almost black hair was tousled making me want to run my hands though it. His eyes shined with mystery of what's coming next.
