This is about the country Chad. Written as a project for my French class (had to do research on a country of our choice that speaks French (called Francophone countries), excluding France itself). Enjoy!

Once upon a time
Several years ago
There were some people
Who called Africa their home
Then the French came in, the French came in, the French came i-i-i-i-in
French Equatorial Africa
Was what the French called them
Promising the people
They'd put slave trade to an end
In the colony, the colony, the colony-y-y-y-y
Now eventually,
They gained freedom
From France in
1960

They became their own independent country
And named themselves Chad
Islam, Animism, Christianity
Are their major religions
They have a Presidential Republic
Just like the one in the USA
They speak both French and Arabic
As their official languages
Oh! Oh! Chad, Chad, Africa
Oh! Oh! Chad, Chad, Africa

Some of their traditions
Are unique to Chad
Like having a permit
From the government
To take pictures, take pictures, take picture-ure-ure-ure-ures
The extended family
Lives in the same house
They practice polygamy
Having more than one spouse
And that's not all, that's not all, that's not a-a-a-a-all
A daughter's fiancé
Must work for his father-in-law
For three years
Before they marry

They study oral literature
And ceremonial dancing
In order to pass on the stories
To the next generation
Oh! Oh! Chad, Chad, Africa
Oh! Oh! Chad, Chad, Africa

There are six countries
Which border Chad
Libya, Niger, Nigeria
Sudan, Cameroon, and the Central African Republic

The national population has grown
It has reached 11.8 million
Unfortunately, the people don't live long
With a lifespan around 48 years
The capital of Chad is N'Djamena
One of the few places that isn't rural
The climate in the South is desert
And tropical in the North
Oh! Oh! Chad, Chad, Africa
Oh! Oh! Chad, Chad, Africa

And..... there's your geography lesson for the day! Hope you liked it
