Save

Gol swore he heard Apathy's voice calling out at him, but he couldn't quite understand what she was saying. The flash of red light that consumed him left a ringing in his ears, and as he felt something changing in his body, fell to his knees. The light grew brighter, and soon he became aware that the Red Panda miraculous was no longer in his hand. It had strapped itself go his hips, snug and hefty. The golden tiger was afraid to admit how good it made him feel.

The changing tiger had to shut his eyes to save them from going blind for the next few seconds. He wasn't sure what was happening, but hoped his decision to fuse his and Annika's miraculouses together was the right one to make. It felt like his only option, the only way he could defeat her himself, in a way that wouldn't harm her.

He wasn't saying that any of the other holders would harm her, but he had seen some of the ways they had dealt with the Akuma-turned innocence. And although he knew he could be a bit brash himself, he wanted to be the one to do it this time. Especially since the situation was a special one. Even if he would let the others help him save Annika, he knew that an explanation would be in order. He just knew they would wonder why Annika, some ordinary classmate from their school, would be treated special by his request. Telling them that she was Ailurus and he was in love with her would violate her identity and expose his true feelings. Both would be wrong to do. And right now all he wanted to do was make things right.

As the light of the fusion died down, a stunned silence filled the air. Gol stood hunched over, his knees aching from being pressed into the cobblestone beneath him, afraid to open his eyes and see what exactly had happened to him. Did he look the same, just the Gold Tiger and a new belt? Did he change completely, the Red Panda suit strapping itself and morphing to his male figure? Or was he wearing both, a zebra of golds and red striping his body in a broken mixing of colors? He had to look at one point, needing to find his as well as Apathy's bearings.

His lids felt heavy as he lifted them to look at the Akuma-turned Annika before him. She stood taken aback, her face a mixture of confliction, black eyes almost wide with disbelief, flickering across the entirety of his body. Gol could only imagine what she was feeling, what she was looking at, her emotions a wild cacophony of turmoil within her. He could almost see the gears in her head, grinding and clicking and screeching with struggle.

Slowly he pulled himself to his feet, feeling the weight of the power of both miraculouses pulling him down. Unknowing he was of the effect that two miraculouses would have on a single person, all he could do was hope that it posed no danger to his being. If it could just let him do this, save Annika and rid her of the evil bestowed upon her, he would promise never to do something so dangerously reckless again.

He just hoped that whatever the gods existed of the miraculous powers, they let him do just this one thing.

"What have you done." Apathy demanded, her voice low and dangerous, her face slowly returning to the hate and evil she presented with her presence. She sounded as if a mother, angry at her child for disobeying her or committing a crime that rendered her betrayed.

Gol kept his eyes locked on her, determined to maintain his ground. "I have done what I have to in regards to what I need. And I need to save you, Ailurus."

"I am not Ailurus!" Apathy snapped, her limp braids flaring around her in an instant, diving towards him. Gol ducked, pushing to one side and rolling across the cobblestone back to his feet, the braids crashing into the place he was a moment before. The growl that followed exposed the redhead's growing anger in regards to her challenger. "And I don't need saving! I am Apathy and I have always been destined to rid this wretched world of human emotion!"

"No you weren't!" Gol cried, diving from another attack. "You have always been destined to save the people! As Ailurus! As a hero, not a villain!"
