A New Life: A Nightmare Before Christmas Fanfiction

Chapter 11: 4 years later

Barrel and Laney walked up the stairs to Skellington Manor. They had gotten married last year, and Jack requested they come over today to help plan for next years Halloween Celebrations. 

At the screeching of the door bell, sets of tiny feet began running toward the door. A tiny rag doll girl opened the door, followed by a skeleton boy and another half rag doll, half skeleton child ran up behind him. 

"Laney! Barrel!" The three children chorused. 

"Judy! J. J (Jack Junior)! Luna!" Laney cooed happily, scooping up Lu 

"Wheres mama and daddy?" Barrel asked, taking J.J from Laney. 

"In the kitchen with Mr. Mayor!" J.J Responded happily

"Thanks, Scary Bear" Laney laughed and kissed the top of his head. 

"Laney, Barrel! Thank you so much for coming!" Sally walked out of the kitchen. "Sorry your father couldn't come out to greet you, he is going over some 'deadly important' plans the mayor brought over" she sighed, shaking her head and laughing.

"Do I need to scare him again?" Laney asked

"NOT IN YOUR CONDITION!" Barrel said suddenly, covering up his mouth as soon as he said it.

"Dang it Barrel!" Laney playfully knocked him on the head "You ruined the surprise!"  

Sally looked at Laney, slightly confused. But then she saw it, a tiny bump in her abdomen. 

"Your pregnant!" Sally elated. 

"Yes!" Laney beamed, hugging her mother, and then turning back to  Barrel "AND Just because I am dosen't automatically an invalid" She joked. 

"I just don't want you to push your limits" Barrel said lovingly. Laney sighed. 

"Don't worry, your father was the same with me when I was pregnant with the triplets" Sally laughed

Laney soon felt herself being picked up from behind. She laughed, she knew who it was. She was soon flipped to see Jack, her father, holding her by the waist. 

He playfully kissed her stomach "Oh Laney! How wonderfully!" he spun her around

"Daddy! Put me down! Your giving Barrel a heart attack!" Laney screeched happily

Jack did as she said. He looked over at Barrel, who looked like he went into panic mode. He knew that feeling all too well. 

"Do you need me to scare the Mayor dad?" Laney asked her father playfully

"No, no, we just finished" Jack smiled. He saw the tiny bump "Why did you wait so long to tell us?" he asked.

"We wanted it to be a SURPRISE" she added emphasis, looking at Barrel "For Halloween" 

"WELL" Barrel said with equal emphasis "It would have been, BUT It just slipped out" 

"Yeah, there's a lot of things that just 'slip out'" she mocked playfully "Like I have to replace your Mace because it 'SLIPPED OUT' of your hand while you were spinning it" she laughed

"THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT" Barrel laughed

"You two amaze me" Sally chuckled. 

"MAMA!" Judy cried, running in from the living room "J.J took my dolly!" she ran up and hugged Sallys legs.

Laney smiled, then picked up her crying little sister "Its okay, my little bug" Laney cooed, twirling her around. Laney had names for her little sisters and brothers. J.J ran in, carrying the doll in tow. He tugged at Laneys leg. 

"Lay, lay" he said, he didn't like it when his sisters cried "Heres Judys doll back" he handed up the small doll.

"Thank you scary bear" she smiled down at her little brother. "Wheres Lulu?" Lulu was her nickname for Luna.

"Upstairs" J.J responded

"Go get her please" Laney smiled down at her brother, who obeyed happily and ran upstairs. 

Laney smiled. Of course her past came up to haunt her sometimes, but she wasn't as sad about it. It helped her better appreciate the life she has now. She was happy in her new life, and will be for many more years, and children, to come.
