Chapter One:
Katie held her flashlight as she searched the supposedly "haunted" house. All of a sudden, she heard a loud creak from behind her. She turned sharply around, grabbing the gun that was kept in the back of her jeans. She was met with two tall men, both also pointed their guns at her.
"Uh, Katie?" asked the taller one.
"Sam? Oh my god, I can't believe its you!" Katie immediately dropped her gun. Sam started walking towards her, but she stopped him.
"Hold on, safety check, idiot." Katie smirked. She grabbed the small flask of holy water out of her jacket and splashed it on Sam and the other man. She then cut them both to finish the job. Sam did the same thing to her. "Okay, now hug." Katie and Sam hugged for a couple of minutes then broke apart.
"Gosh, I haven't seen you in two years, Sam Winchester!" She slapped him gently.
"Yeah, I'm sorry we have been busy. You know, hunting." Sam gestured to the man behind him. The man stepped forward,
"Hi. Dean." Dean said with a sad smile.
"Katie." Katie replied.
"What are you doing here?" Asked Dean.
"A case duh. What about....oh. Got the same case huh?" Katie started to chuckle.
"Yeah, so why don't you go home. We'll take care of this." Dean said. Katie put her hands on her hips.
"Scuse me?"
"Dean, seriously I wouldn't...." Sam attempted to stop Dean from insulting Katie.
"Sam seriously? You're going to argue with me right now?" Dean stared at Sam with cold eyes. He turned to Katie. "Look sweetheart, I don't want you to get hurt."
"Dean....."
"SHUT UP SAM!" Katie felt anger run through her veins. Before Dean could even blink, she had slammed her gun across his head, causing Dean to fall to the ground.
"Fuck you, Dean Winchester." Katie huffed, and started to walk away. She turned back to see Dean sprawled on the floor clutching his head. He met her eyes, and shouted at her.
"BITCH!" Katie blew a kiss, and walked away, yelling back,
"Later babe!" She heard Sam start running after her.
"Katie! Katie! Wait up!" She stopped and turned to meet Sam's eyes. "Look, I'm really sorry about Dean. He's just really pissed off at me."
"Why?" Katie asked. Sam suddenly looked guilty, and put his arm behind his head.
"He's pissed off because I didn't look for him while he was in Purgatory..." Katie was shocked.
"SAM! NO WONDER HE'S PISSED OFF! YOUR HIS ONLY FAMILY AND FAMILY LOOK FOR EACH OTHER LOOK FOR EACH OTHER WHEN THEY GO MISSING!"
"Yeah, I know, but I had a life..."
"Do I l look like I give a flying shit? You never leave family behind, Sam. Get your head out of your ass and get a reality check."
"I really messed up, didn't I?"
"Yes you did."
"Are you going to apologize to Dean?" Katie looked up at Sam.
"Are you stupid? He's the one that should be sorry. He insulted me and treated me like a five year old."
"Yeah, but you also slammed your gun across his head."
"If you noticed, I did not slam him hard enough for him to pass out. So, in fact, I did him a favor." Sam chuckled.
"That's why I love you Katie." Katie chuckled.
"I love you too Sammy." Dean started making his way towards them. Katie crossed her arms and stared coldly at Dean.
"Look, I just want to say, I'm sorry for being rude to you and it was out of line." Dean said.
"It's fine. Okay, can we do this case together? Or no?" Katie asked.
"I'm up to it." Sam said.
"Sure." Dean added.
"I'm going this way. You and Dean go that way okay?" Sam said, pointing to the left direction for himself, and the right for Dean and Katie.
Katie gave Sam a look that basically said "Really dude.", but she went with Dean. As they walked down the hallways of the huge houses, they heard occasional creaks, but they didn't think twice about it.
"So, what caused you to become a hunter?" Dean asked, attempting at conversation. Katie's lip trembled.
"It's a long story."
"Well, I have time." Katie sighed, but started her story.
"I became a hunter around 7 years ago. I was twenty two years old. I shared an apartment with my best friend Stacey. On October 16th, 2007, I came home from work, to see my best friend, lying on the floor, her neck cut so deep, you could see her spine. Blood was everywhere, and I remember dropping everything and running to her, screaming her name. I felt as if I shouted her name loud enough, she wouldn't be dead." Katie's voice quavered.
"What happened next?"
"I learned everything. I found out that all the creepy crawly nightmares my mom used to tell me as a kid was real. Sam told me you guys were raised into it. You have no idea how scary it is to find out everything you thought was make believe was real. After I found out basically everything you could possibly know, I set out to find the thing that killed Stacey. It was a demon. The hardest part was that um...." Dean stopped and looked at her. "The demon was possessing my brother, Michael."
"What did you do? Exorcise the son of a bitch?"
"No. You see, I have a special gun that kills demons. Its called the Colt." Dean stopped in his tracks again.
"The Colt was lost. It was sold to someone across the ocean. How do you have it?" Dean asked.
"I was in France for vacation, and this little dealer was selling it. I have this gun obsession, you see, and this Colt was gorgeous. It was different then any other gun I've ever seen. It was a bit pricey, but I bought it. This was before Stacey was killed of course. When I found out that the Colt kills demons, not just send it back to Hell, I was overfilled with joy. "
"So, you killed your own brother?" Katie stared at Dean.
"What else was I supposed to do? The demon didn't deserve Hell for what it did to Stacey. I would of killed the demon in any meat suit it was in. And, Dean, its not like I was all happy I killed my brother. I still hate myself to this day for doing it."
"I'm sorry." Dean said and wiped away a tear from Katie's face.
"It's fine, it was a long time ago." Katie forced a laugh.
All of a sudden, the lights flickered off and on. They felt the temperature go down 10 degrees. It suddenly felt like they had taken a trip to Antarctica.
"Let's kill this bitch." Katie said, fire lighting up in her eyes. Dean laughed and followed behind her.
