NATHAN

Just like that, it is all over. I quickly take off my virtual glasses that was provided to us during the simulation. All I can think about is the chaos that had just occurred. As I take off my glasses I am blinded with a beam of light within the room. Once my vision comes to, I scan the room and find my friend Weston on the other side. I notice the expression on his face and I am not surprised. Just before our pretest ended, Weston just got his head decapitated by Canning. Although the simulation wasn't real, it sure in hell seemed like it. As much as Weston and I tried to come up with a way to beat Canning, it was literally impossible.

"Great job everyone." The lady that is in charge of the testing said. "I enjoyed getting a visual of each individual's talent. I am very much astonished. As you all know, this isn't part of any test that you will be going through at the institution. This is just a pretest to send out to the sponsors, so they can have a clear idea of who they want and are watching out for."

"Wow," I say under a muzzled breath. We just got destroyed, and now footage is going to be released of the chaotic brawl. Definitely not a good look for those of us that got annihilated by Canning and his little followers. And that's a lot of people, like the whole class.

My stomach begins to turn,  All I  can do is visualize the expressions on the sponsors faces when they see the jokes that we were to Canning. Everyone knows that Canning is trouble and is going to cause problems. I have no doubt that Canning won't make it into the Institute.

"Piece of cake," Canning says interrupting our instructor. Heads turn Canning's way almost immediately. "I hope the others at the academy will put up a better fight than what you guys gave. That performance was pathetic. None of you were able to put a scratch on me."

"OH FUCK OFF!" Weston yells from across the room. What comes next sends the room into complete chaos. "Just because you come from a very strong bloodline, doesn't mean you can put the rest of us down. Oh wait, some people aren't as privileged as you are."

"Sit down wuss. I am not going to waste my breath on you. Or you might regret ever opening your mouth. As I recall West, didn't I take your head off."

"Let's see if you can do that without a simulation!" Weston yelled.

Weston charges forward at Canning. His face has turned from vanilla white, to tomato red in a matter of seconds. In the left of Weston's hand, he carries a illuminated blaze of fire that is ready to turn Canning's face into a kabob. In the right, he carries a frozen hand of ice, that when put together sends off a deadly blow. Just before Weston is able to reach Canning, he is smacked backwards by one of Canning's minions.

"Cut it out!" Barked the instructor, making her way to Weston, soon grabbing him by the arm. She looks at the time on her watch then gives a light nod to the rest of the class. "Class is dismissed."

I take one quick look at Weston, who struggles to keep his ground. Canning smiles loosely, folding his arms into his chest subtly, eyeing West down. I hate to say this, but Weston isn't strong enough to even put up a fight with Canning. We only learned how to control are powers at the academy and how to use them properly. Other than that, we need a sponsor to train us, so they can help evolve and strengthen our abilities. Without sponsors, Weston is weak. As well as myself.

I exit the simulated room and the first one out. What Weston did or attempted to do is against the rules of our society and can get him in serious trouble by the council. We are prohibited to using are abilities against other Inborns unless directed to do so. Him doing what he just did may have caused him to lose his powers temporarily.

I walk the long corridor of the well lit hallways. My mind doses off to the sound of kids talking about what had happened during simulation. Many of them had none to little to say about it. Canning killed the entire class, except for me, and the girl I attempted to save.
