Brook. A simple word literally meaning "water." It's no surprise my favorite place to be is the water. Any water I can find. I'll swim in creeks, at the beach, even in my best friend's pool. Every weekend I can be found near or in water.

I heard my phone buzz.

Hey, Brook, Jaclyn and Kat invited me to the creek this weekend. They said bring one more friend. You up for it?

I didn't even know why Em asked. Of course I was going to yes.

Yassss. Excited already! I texted Em back.

My phone buzzed again.

Knew I should've just went ahead and told them yes. Great! See you there. And I know you're ready but today is only Wednesday. Remember that 😂.

Of course it couldn't have been Saturday already. I am the most impatient person on the planet. Only Wednesday. I was too lazy to do the math, but we had more than a day. Too long to wait, in my opinion.

I looked at my phone again. I was tempted to text Em back and just text to cure my boredom. I didn't, though. I wanted to write.

I love to write poetry. My favorite thing about poetry is how you can write whatever. No rules. I also love how you can use so much figurative language, and how certain poems are like reading song lyrics without music. It's absolutely beautiful. And my favorite thing to write about? You probably guessed it. Water. The descriptions of crystal clear water or the whisper of the rushing stream or the waves being trimmed out in white foam. It just lightens my mood and lifts my spirits.

I wanted to write another poem, but I already have written so many. I was running out of ideas. And even if I did have an idea I was too excited to really compose a good poem. I was too ready to go to the water.
