Colton

I smiled at her and walked away. Maybe she doesn't like me, who knows? Like I care, I just want a good grade. I walked back into Mrs. Sanchez' class, by the looks of it, she didn't mind me walking out of her class without permission. She assigned something to the class and asked me to meet her in private.

"That was a good thing you did back there, Mr. Geoffrey. I always though you belonged with the Frat Boys, careless and what-not. Apparently I was wrong, thank you for proving me wrong."

I thought she was going to give a detention or something.

"No problem. People have the tendency to judge me for something I'm not. I'm practically used to it by now."

Mrs. Sanchez smiled and checked her watch.

"Well, let's get to work."

She walked back to her desk and began answering questions from students.

I walked out of my last class for the day and headed straight for the gazebo. Just like before, I ran into multiple girls. All of which, threw themselves at me. I snapped a few pictures on the way, some were good enough to score me third place in the yearly photo contest.

I saw Layla waiting for me at the gazebo, reading her book.
She kept reading as if she
didn't even notice I was there.

"Hi.", she said finally closing her book.

"Hi there.", I replied.

"Alright let's get right to work."

We started on the project, planning out who would do what. She would take care of the drawing and diagrams while I handled the photography. We would each share out the work. We continued to talk, thinking about ideas of how to make our project stand out.

Eventually, we had planned out everything and began on the project itself. As we worked, I decided to start up a conversation.

"Since we don't know each other very well, how about we share some facts about ourselves."

She froze, probably taking in the information.

"Fine. You go first though.", her voice was calm, almost angry sounding.

I thought for a few minutes. It had to be something deep.

"I've never dated someone.", I said.

For some reason, I didn't mind sharing personal information with other people. Layla was silent. She was focused on the project or what I'd said, I couldn't decipher. After a moment of silence I heard her phone buzz. She quickly muted it and glanced at her phone. "I got to go, we worked enough for today. We can meet here tomorrow again, same place, same time.", she said walking away, without waiting for a response.

"Oh and, buh bye Frat Boy."

Layla

"Please don't call me that.", Colton yells as I leave.

"Fine, Pretty Boy.", I reply without looking back.

As I'm walking away, I think about Colton's statement, burning in my mind. He's never dated anyone? I wish that was the same for me.

I can't think of him now, he's gone because he didn't want you, nobody wants you. I just have to accept that.

Stop thinking about this Layla. There's more important things to think about.
