Dan's head pounded as he opened his eyes to the dimly lit room. Morning light dripped in through the window, now covered by blinds. When Chris invited him out to a party he wasn't so sure. Now he wasn't so sure of a few things. His mind began to race as he glanced around, taking in the surroundings of such an innocent bedroom. Judging by the lack of clothes on Dan, last night's events were easy to guess. Then he thought to look to his left. To his side laid a sleeping man, black fringe in a mess and presumably also lacking clothes.
"Good. He's still asleep. I can just—" Dan climbed out of the bed slowly but the creaking of his movements awoke the sleeping boy. "Shit."
He slowly opened his eyes, revealing a soothing blue look to them, glossy from the depths of sleep. He shut his eyes immediately.
"Hey." The man greeted sleepily.
"Hi, I was just leaving." Dan took the opportunity of his eyes being closed to slip over to his clothes on the floor and put them on, avoiding the stranger from seeing his naked body.
"No, no. Let me get you some coffee." He turned and made his way to the apartment's bathroom. Dan found this kind of curious, especially with the man still keeping his eyes closed. When he emerged he had glasses on and was motioning Dan to follow him to the kitchen. He meekly followed the strangers plea.
"I'm sorry, I don't remember you last night. I'm not usually like that. My name is Phil by the way." He explained, preparing the coffee as he spoke.
"Dan." Dan gave a short response.
Silence overtook them until the coffee was ready and Phil asked how he liked him coffee. Dan responded and he obliged.
"You know I really should be going." Dan stuttered, looking down at the time on his phone.
"Alright. It was nice meeting you. I hope to see you again" Phil added the last part quietly before embarrassment filled his face.
--
Phil thought back on his words. He was felt he had made a fool out of himself in front of Dan. Though their story wasn't so romantic, he wanted to see him again. He was just so beautiful it caught him off guard. The chances were slim though so Phil just carried on with life. A couple of weeks passed and though his thoughts were preoccupied with his handsome one night stand, he grabbed his things and made his way to a meeting with his publisher. The streets were busy but he crept to the underground, a thermos of coffee in hand but he was running late. Phil began a slow jog, building up speed as the hour grew close. When he got on the train he found one seat free, luckily. However the boy beside the empty seat was the mysterious brunette.
"Hello, Dan." He greeted as he sat down. Out of breath from the jog there. Dan looked startled at the hello. "I swear I'm not stalking you. I'm on my way to a meeting." Phil laughed and Dan grinned.
"Funny seeing you again better circumstances I'd say." He smiled. Phil nodded in return.
"What are you up to today, if you don't mind me asking?" Phil questioned, hoping to strike up a conversation.
"I'm on my way to babysit my friends kid. I don't know who's going to have more fun today me or you at that meeting." Dan laughed. As the train slowed Dan put a hand up and waved. "This is my stop. Nice running into you."
"Wait," Phil reached out "will you go on a date with me?"
"I don't usually—... Sure. You don't seem like that bad of a guy Phil. I'll give you a chance." With that, Dan handed over a business card. "Text me."
Phil was pretty star struck in an odd way was he watched Dan get off at his stop. A sweet smile curved his lips as his thoughts quieted, no longer worried if he would ever see the handsome one night stand again. He still had to prove himself.
