Family.
You never truly understand the word 'family' until your family is gone.
I was three when my mother died of lung cancer, and seventeen when my father died. I am now nineteen, living with my husky, Marshall, and Im completely happy.
Ok, I might have lied.
Im depressed.
And not the, 'my boyfriend dumped me and im so sad!' Kind of depressed, the depressed where I ended up cutting for a while. My best friend, Joana, convinced me to stop and see a counseler. Before my father had died, he had done some disgusting things to me. Yes, he did. Absolutely horrid things. I was fifteen the first time. I then just ran away and lived with Joana for ten weeks before my father died of an overdose on alchohol.
I sold my house, bought an apartment nearby Joana's house, and got a job working at The Kilhicks Shoe Shop. I got ten bucks an hour, so I wasnt complaining. The shop was located in the closest mall to my house, Pelinda Gardens, an outdoor mall with a lot of stores.
''And I believe, this may call for a proper introduction, well, dont you see, Im the narrator and this is just the prolouge...'' My favorite song blasted through the speaker on my phone. I grabbed it out of my pocket and checked the caller ID. It was Joana. I pressed the green button on the bottom of the screen. Holding the new Iphone to my right ear, I shifted in the chair in the waiting room. My husky, Marshall was getting rabies shots and a couple of other shots he needed.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Alex, where are you? Im in your apartment waiting for you."
Oh, yeah, Joana has the other key for my house. Shes basically my sister. In eigth grade, we convinced everyone that we were cousins. Almost everyone believed it.
"Sorry Jo! Marshall needed some shots. I'll be back in 10. Sorry."
"its ok Alex, I understand. Ooh! Is that pizza? Can I have some?"
Haha. Typical Joana. Food is her second favorite thing in the world. She eats whatever she wants and doesnt get fat, but if I eat a small dohnut, I swear I gain at least three pounds.
"Joana, my food is your food." The lady next to me gave me a weird look. "Of course you can eat some."
"K, see ya soon." She finished.
I hung up the phone and clicked the off button. I looked at the sign that a vet put on the counter.
'Sorry, we might be held back. Owners of Marshall, Lily, Sammy, and Oscar, sorry for the inconvinience. The wait will be maybe half an hour. Sorry.'
Damnit.
Hey readers!! Thanks for reading, sorry this first part was so short, I have a good idea for the beginning of the next chapter. The song that was playing off of Alex's phone is called, 'The only difference between Matrydom and Suicide is Press Coverage' by Panic! At The Disco. This chapter is unedited, so sorry if there are mistakes. The next chapter will come either today or tomorrow! Thankya for reading!
