Alex Pov

"Alex! Get your ass out of bed now! Don't make me come up there!"

From learning the hard way I know not to make my dad angry when's he's drunk, which is all the time. I decide to start getting ready for school. Im 5'7, 17 years old and hate my life. My older brother, Matt, is 18 and he basically takes care of me. Ever since my mom died in a car crash when i was 5 my dad has fallen apart. He never stops drinking and will repeatedly hit me or touch me for not reason, and he's to big to fight off. Lets not talk about that right now though so back to school. I hate dressing up, i have never worn a dress or skirt in my life. My dad always told me I was ugly and useless and I believe him. We're also all werewolf's and we belong to a pack. I never want to find my mate, who apparently is supposed to be my soul mate, because I know he would reject me on the spot, I'm not good enough for anyone and I'm ugly. No one wants an ugly mate.

Matt and I finally leave for school. All I'm wearing is a t-shirt and jeans, nothing new. It's our first day of school and I'm dreading it, lots of people find their mate today. Matt hasn't found his mate either and he's really excited to find her so I hope he does!

As we reach school I look for my only friend, Shannon, we've been best friends since kindergarten and she knows everything about me. I find her leaning against my locker, how she knew it was mine I have no idea, she's weird like that.

"Hey Al! Show me your classes, we better have some together or I'll march into the office and demand it!"

"Calm down Shan," I say while laughing.

"Good we have 1st, 2nd, lunch, 7th and 8th together! Which is math, French, chemistry and history!"

Thank god I hate not having people I know in my classes, I just sit in the corner.

"So Al think we'll find our mates today?!" Shan says as we start walking to first period math.

"I hope not," I say looking at the ground.

"I know you don't want to find him not but everything will be fine. I promise."

I don't reply back, not in the mood to talk about it cause I just get upset. We finally get to math and sit in the back as the bell rings.

Its 5 minutes into class and I'm already wishing the day was over.

All of a sudden the door bursts open and in walks the schools player James McCaine, soon to be alpha of the pack. I get this weird feeling in my stomach but I just ignore it.

"Mate! Where is she?!" He says.

He better not be talking to me...
