As soon as I got home, I texted her. She was one of my best friends. Maybe even my best friend. Tomorrow was my birthday, I was turning 18. I would find out if I've met my soulmate or not. It could be anyone. My best friend, Morana, or someone I walked past on the street. Everyone had to be careful. Usually you have to physically touch someone, but just being close to them personally or always talking them could cause you to begin to age.

There's tales that some people never meet their soulmate and live forever. But I don't think that's true. Everyone has to meet them sooner or later. But my thought of that stopped as soon as I heard my phone go off. Moranna finally texted me back.

Moranna314: Hey! Finally got home I see.

I smiled to myself. School took forever. I usually didn't get home until 4 P.M. due to the long bus drive. I could drive my mom's car, but I never did. After looking at the time, 4:32 P.M., I texted her back.

Brayfire_972: Yep! But you took forever to text me back.

Brayfire_972  was my user name. That was my nickname that all my friends called me. Well, my old friends, from my old school. We just frequently moved to Clearwater, Washington. This was my first year. It was ironic because I met Moranna around the same time.

Actually, we've never met in person. I've seen pictures of her and talk to her all the time. But I've never physically met her. With me just moving here and both of us being busy with school, we've never had the time. Besides, neither of our parents know about the other person.

Moranna314: I just got the text! I also can't help that I've got that science exam to study for next Monday. This is going to suck...

I remembered her science exam was next Monday. She wanted to study all weekend so she could get a good grade. With school going to end soon, we both wanted good grades. Plus we both had strict parents. Mine made sure I was an A+ student, section leader for band, and I was never allowed to go out on weekends. Not like I had the friends to do it. Once I moved here, school had already started and everyone found their clicks, except me.

But now I had Moranna. We met each other on a chat room. Just a random, open chat room. I'm happy I found that website and met her. Without her, I don't know where I would be. I opened my phone back up and texted her back.

Brayfire_972: Sorry... Then you're going to be stuck studying on my birthday! The best day ever!!!!

Moranna314: I actually have a surprise for you... Do you think you could go out tomorrow?

Brayfire_972: Maybe... I don't think my parents will mind. What are you planning on doing????

She didn't reply for a while. I sat there on my bed, both headphones in listening to Fall Out Boy. What was she going to do? What was her surprise? When I heard my phone loudly ding, I also heard a heavy knock on my door. "Can I come in?" A female voice asked loudly. I pulled out my headphones and told them to come in.

It was my mom. Her brown, shoulder length hair was pulled back into a messy bun. "Come on, Braylon. Dinner is ready. I've yelled for you for the last 3 minutes," her voice was mad and fiery. I could tell easily that she was mad. As soon as I opened my mouth to tell her wait a moment, as if she could read my mind, she told me, "No. Turn the phone off and come eat dinner. Now." The way she was acting I knew she must of had a bad day at work. Or maybe her ex-boyfriend was trying to come around again. But whatever it was, I wasn't going to mess around with her. At least not today.

I walked down the stairs and saw that Alex, my mom's ex-boyfriend, was sitting at the table. It messy, long hair looked unkempt. He had a beer in one hand and an arm around my mother. "What is he doing here?" I asked with a foul look on my face. He was not supposed to be around here. Because of my parents splitting up, we moved here and my mom met him. I hated him with all my heart.
