A soft humming greeted Sue as her eyes slowly opened.
She blinked once or twice, sitting up and reaching for her blanket, grabbing nothing. Confused, she looked around, and found that she was not in bed.
A sudden rush of memories flooded her, the stranger in the store, the request for help, Sue following the stranger to her car with a handful of groceries. And then the sharp pain to the back of her head.
Sue scrambled to sit up, and was shocked to find that she was resting on glass. She backed herself into a wall, also made of glass and she swiveled her head around frantically. She was inside a giant Mason jar! Confused and scared, Sue only now realized that she wasn't wearing any clothes, and she quickly scrambled to cover herself up while blushing. She felt her breathing grow heavier and she considered calling out for help.
Suddenly, the humming stopped, and was replaced by a booming voice.
"Oh, you're awake! I thought I might have...you know, put you to sleep permanently."
Sue looks around again, now sitting in a way that hid her private parts from prying eyes.
A large face appeared in front of her and made her jump. The giant mouth giggled, apologizing, "oh, sorry sorry, I didn't mean to scare you..."
"Where am I?!" Sue shouted. The jar amplified her voice, but not by much. The giant in front of her smiled.
"The story is long and boring, and honestly I don't think you would be interested in it. To give you a rundown, your tiny now, I'm large now, and, well, you'll be joining my family and I for dinner."
Sue felt something deep inside of her drop. She wasn't sure if she wanted to know what the woman meant.
The face disappeared as she stood, walking away from the jar. Sue was afraid to rush to the other wall, afraid of what she would see, but eventually her curiosity got the best of her, and she slowly crept over.
The giant lady, who looked like any average person you'd see in everyday life, was preparing some sort of dish, laying out two bowls and what looked like a baking pan. She greased it, then added a mixture of milk and eggs to one bowl. In the other she sifted flour, salt, pepper, and a few other obscure spices.
Sue watched her wash her hands, then, and walk back to the fridge.
She pulled out a large package of what looked like chicken. It was opened quickly with a knife, and then, the woman began battering the meal.
She rolled it in the flour, then the milk, and then the flour once more, before it was carefully lined up in the baking dish.
Sue felt panic rise again and began to shout.
She called for help, her now tiny lungs shouting and screaming and hoping to God that somebody could hear her.
Unfortunately, the woman battering the chicken did, and she walked over.
"Is everything okay over here?" She asked.
"Let me out of here!!" Sue shouted. "I won't...I won't tell anyone if, if you just let me go home!"
The lady tsked once and shook her head.
"Well, once your small, you're small for life, and I don't think you would be able to enjoy life like that. I've let people go in the past, and they always come crawling back begging for me to help." She shrugs and smiles. "And I always do." She pats her stomach and turns back to the meal preparation.
"No!! I won't come back!!! Please! Let me go!" Sue's pleas were lost as the giant began to hum to herself once more.
Sue watched as slowly, each piece of chicken was battered and laid out, waiting and dreading what was coming.
