There once was a tale of a love so true and so deep it ascended all notions of love. This love was shared between the Sun King Hilios and the Moon Goddess.

The Sun King Hilios was the father of all children of light. He ruled the day shedding his light on his children bringing them the comforts of his warmth and prosperity. He was a kind and caring king, nurturing his children and protecting them from harm. All rejoiced in his light and worshiped him blindly as the love they shared for him was true and just. But Hilios shared the sky with another, the Moon Goddess, and as day gave way to night so to did his reign.

The night was ruled by the Moon Goddess herself. Her beauty was unmatched and her heart pure and strong. She loved her children of the night and watched over them carefully as any mother would her babe. She guided them threw the darkness with her soft glow and her children too loved her blindly and enjoyed her comfort and all she offered in the night.

Every day the Sun King and the Moon Goddess shared the sky for one hour only, known as the waning hour. This hour was the time where the sun and moon shared the sky at the same time before day finally retreated giving way to the night. The Sun King Hilios used this time to saver the Moon Goddess ' s beauty for it was the only time the two met. He was so entrapped by her looks that finally one day he built up the courage and saught out her affections.

The Moon Goddess was not ignorant to his lasting stares and often found herself staring back. So when news of his affections reached her she rejoiced. Soon after the two began their love affair. The love grew quickly in that one hour's time and soon the Sun King and the Moon Goddess joined their kingdoms sharing their love with their children.

Prosperity and joy thrived in that one hour where sun shared the sky with moon and all the kingdoms children rejoiced. The Waning Hour became one of the most celebrated times of day where the children of light and children of night would come together and feast. Festivities were held and all was as it should have been.

Detries however thought ill against the love they shared. He believed one should always rule over the other and this sharing of times was blasphemy. So he set out to devise a plan to destroy this love and bring back order. With the help of his mistress, Detries formed a wicked plan to finally end the love between his sister and the Sun King.

So on that fateful day as the Sun King awaited his goddess, as Detries sent out his mistress to seduce the foolish King. The King however proved to be true and shot down all she offered. Only his one true love would ever capture his eye, and so with a mighty roar he struck her down casting her aside.

This angered Detries. So having no other choice he turned his companion, an owl, into a beautiful maiden and sent her to the King once more. This time his trick proved to be successful for as the sun begun to give way and the waning Hour approched the Sun King Hilios was lost in the touch of the maiden.

That day the Moon Goddess rushed, as she did every day, to greet her one true love only to catch him in the embrace of another woman. She let out a painful cry that was heard across the kingdoms as her heart shattered to pieces. Struck with grief she fled the skies and hid herself away, all the while cursing the King and his adulterous ways.

No sooner did the Sun King Hilios hear his lovers screams did the image of the woman before him shatter revealing the truth. He was tricked with the image of his true love and no matter how much he begged his Goddess to believe him, she would not listen.

With every plea of forgiveness and understanding the Moon Goddess grew more angry. Soon grief and anger took completely and in a moment of pure rage and hurt she cast down a curse on her children turning them into beasts under the moons glow. She vowed that if a single child of light were to wander during her reign that her children would destroy them. She forbade all love between the two kingdoms, declaring any love affair to be punished by death. With this she declared her war against the Sun King and his children.

Soon after still grief stricken and broken hearted she turned over her rule to her brother Detries, asking only for him to uphold her wishes. This was all to Detries delight as he took over the night thus, beginning the war between the kingdoms, the war between the day and the night.
