I was siting in class holding my pencil between my boney, pale fingers. I was biting the eraser between my teeth as I dazed off into la-la land. A large stack of textbooks dropped on the desk before me and I was snapped out of my daydream. "Ms. Tucker," my algebra teacher said, "You might want to pay attention. This class is very important for your future career." I laughed and shook my head. "Well /Matthew/," I was sure to use his first name because I knew how much it bothered him, "If I'm to do what i want with my life, trust me, it'll have NOTHING to do with this shit." I dropped my pencil on my desk and looked up at him with a smirk on my face. I saw his face turn red with anger and frustration. Without even being told, I knew where I was headed. I stomped my black combat boots on the floor and pushed myself up using the desk as support. "Dont worry. I know what to do." I began to walk out of the room when my best friend, Justin, held out his hand for a high five and gave me a chuckle. "Nice one toni", he said and I slapped my hand to his emitting a loud ringing sound. "ANTONIA NOW PLEASE!" screamed the teacher as I hurried out of the room to the dean of discipline's office. Once I got down there, I clomped my heavy boots onto his desk and leaned back into the chair. "Ms. tucker, what a lovely surprise to see you here", said Mr. Hoffmann, the dean. His voice was dripping with sarcasm and I choked out a laugh. "Cut the crap, whats the punishment this time?" I asked in a straight-to-the-point tone. "Well since this is a repeat offense, you get 5 days of out of school suspension" He quickly scribbled down a report as he spoke. "Well let's start this suspension early as I give myself the rest of the day off," I said as I walked out of his office, ignoring his yells of protest. I headed to my locker and grabbed my skateboard along with my black beanie. I fit it snuggly on top of my green and purple, joker inspired hair. I dropped my board on the ground and began to skate down the hallways and out the front exit. I sttarted riding down the street and pulled out my phone checking the time. 2:39 pm. school would be out soon so I had about 21 minutes before school let out. I began to skate faster and faster, no longer paying attention to my surroundings, but to the time. School's out in 21 --20 minutes now. I have to get home quick before the jocks find me. I kept increasing my speed of riding. I looked down and it seemed as if I had hit a wall. I heard a small grunt but it didn't come from me. I hit the ground hard and propped myself up on my elbows. My vision was slightly blurred from hitting my head on the concrete. I held my head pressing my fingers hard against my temples. "Um im sorry," the person had said in a deep voice. I blinked and looked at the man. He had dark hair and medium sized gauges in his ears. "It's ok" I said in a quiet voice. He stood up and held out a hand for me. I hesitantly took his hand. "I, um, I'm Nikki" he said. He was very tall and extremely handsome. I could tell even through all of the face paint he had been wearing at the time. I looked down at my all black beat up vans and said in a small voice "I'm Antonia, but most people call me Toni" he nodded and held out his hand for a shake. I took his hand weakly and shook it. I laughed a little and so did he when we both realized Nikki's hands were like fountains, sweat pouring out of them. "Nervous there?" I asked with a slight chuckle. Beneath his makeup you could tell if he was blushing or not but he was certainly flustered. "Um uh... heh... uh..." he stammered. I laughed and shook my head playfully, loosening the french braid I had going down the back of my head under my beanie. I had looked down at my phone and turned completely white, more white than usual. "I-I'm sorry Nikki b-but I have to go" I looked around nervously. My phone had read 3:15. School was already over that means they should be close. The goofy grin on his face wavered slightly. "Why?" he said softly in an attempt to hide the pain in his voice. I looked around and already saw them headed down the street in there huge group. It was too late to run. They were already too close. "Nikki I just," I turned at looked at the group as the came closer.... and closer... and closer. It was too late.
