"Stop! Mom stop! you're hurting her!" I ran in between my mother and sister.
I gave my sister what protection I could. My mother, furious, got a good grip on the belt and unleashed her fury upon me.
Tears ran down my face. I waited until mother finally walked away. I checked on my sister and hugged her close to me.
Today is the day. I take one look at my little 'daughter'. I'm her mother. Her 10 year old mother. I will protect her.
Her head shakes softly, but I nod my head. She wants to stay, but this our last chance...and I'm taking it.
