People say that addiction is purely mental while others say that it's purely physical. But when in reality it's a fair mixture of both. The pain of withdrawals is both physical and mental. The sweating, the vomiting, the pain, the heart pains are all parts of a very painful withdrawal that any addict knows all too well. The tapping of fingers, the twitches, the burning, the mind screaming at you that one more time won't hurt anyone, that no one has to know, that you just need it one more time. All of that could drive the most sensible person to the brink of insanity. So when someone asks you ,shouldn't it be easy to just give it up? I know you can. You're just not trying hard enough. Tell them they can go show it up theres. Tell them that if it were that easy that you would quit but the pain of stopping is worth the pain of continuing your addiction. Tell them that this is not fun for you. Tell them that you don't want to hurt anyone, that you don't want to hurt the ones you love. Tell them that you want to stop so badly but it's not as easy as they think. Tell them that if they want to help you that they should stay with you through this trying time because all that addiction is the inability to connect with others. Tell them you love them and that you need them. Tell them that addiction is not simple

I don't know a whole lot about addiction but I've seen it destroy my family and friends lives. I don't know the pain of the withdrawals but I've seen it first hand. Even though I don't know I still feel the need to address how hard addiction is and I apologize in advance if I get something wrong. -P.D.
