"That's not funny," I whined, turning my head to the side to hide the light blush that flashed on my pale, white cheeks.

Vic and Mike continued to laugh despite my embarrassment.

"Would it be funny if you were the one that tripped on the table and fell face first into your mom's wedding cake?" I huffed, becoming a little irritated.

Mike continued to giggle as he spoke,"Yes. Yes it would."

"It wasn't funny," I insisted, bitterly, "And I don't like the fact that you guys are laughing at me. Especially you Vic. You're supposed to be my best friend."

"Awww," Vic said, seizing his laughter,"You know I love you."

I sighed,"Can we just not talk about it?"

"Oh, you mean not talk about how you tripped and fell into you mother and new stepdad's cake? You don't like him that much?" Mike asked.

I sighed,"It's not that I don't like him. I just wish that my mom and dad would have worked out."

Vic shrugged,"Sometimes, people can't stay together. They're just not meant to be."

I nodded,"But let's look at the bright side. I have a mom, two dads, and a new sister."

"Speaking of which," Mike said with a suggestive tone,"How is Kait?"

I rolled my eyes,"Still very much in a relationship with her boyfriend."

"Bummer."

I looked at my watch and sighed,"It's almost midnight guys. You should probably get home."

"I don't want to go home," Vic whined, plopping onto my bed,"I want to stay here. Can I stay?"

I nodded,"Yeah. Whatever. It's not like you don't practically live here already."

Mike laughed and began to pick up his jacket off my bean bag chair,"Well, I have to go home because Mom needs her medicine."

"Where's Dad?" Vic asked.

"He got stuck with over time."

"Oh," Vic replied, letting his eyes trail to the floor.

It was actually really sad to watch.

A few years ago, Vic and Mike's mother had been diagnosed with a mild case of schizophrenia.

The doctors said she would be fine if she kept up with her meds, so the Fuentes boys were able to take her home.

Turned out, the doctors were right. Vic and Mike's mom took her medicine and everything was fine.

The sad aspect of the story was when Vivian, Mike and Vic's mother, decided that she had had enough and stopped taking her medicine. She slowly got worse and worse until the poor woman had a mental breakdown. She began screaming at things that weren't there, clawing at her skin, and yelling at the most random moments to things we couldn't see.

No one knew what was wrong with her until after they spoke to the doctor. According to Viv, taking the pills made her feel like she was different and she didn't like it. She just wanted to be the "normal" woman that she had always been.

That all changed when the doctor explained that with her pills, she could have the life that she wanted. It was only when she stopped taking them that she would have problems.

Now, Mike, Vic, and their father always have to keep an eye on her to make sure she takes her medicine.

Things were slowly getting better for them and as Vic's best friend, I couldn't be happier.
