*ding dong*
"Wha-?"
(_____) sat up in her bed and squinted at her alarm clock. The blinking red numbers read '12:57'. It was still dark as shit out so she assumed it meant 12:57 at night... morning... whatever.

*ding dong*

(_____) groaned and slid out of bed, cool air hitting her bare legs. She stumbled around blindly and felt around for a pair of sweatpants. Finally she tripped over a pair and tugged them on.

*ding dong*

"I'm comin'!" (_____) yelled out as she stepped out of her bedroom. In her drunken and sleepy stupor she stumbled into the hallway and towards the front door. She stood on the tip of her toes and squinted through the peephole to see who it was. Standing there in all his distorted glory was 2D, fiddling with his fingers. (_____) sighed and unlocked the door. She began to open the door just as a cool autumn breeze blew through the doorway. Her eyes widened slightly as the breeze hit her bare torso. It was too late. The door was more than halfway open and (_____) had no shirt on. 2D shrieked and quickly covered his eyes.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't know! I's late but I fough' I'd drop off your key real quick an' pick up my movie!"
(_____) quickly grabbed him buy the arm and yanked him inside.
"Alright, damn! Shut up before you wake the entire block!" (_____) said as she shut the door. (_____) turned to 2D and frowned at him, placing her hands on her hips. Poor 2D was shaking in embarrassment and shock, his knees quivering. (_____) sighed and rubbed her chin.
"What the hell are you doing here at this hour, man?" She asked. 2D shakily slid his free hand into his pants pocket and pulled out her spare house key. As (_____) reached out for it she saw 2D jerk back a little bit. She looked up from his hand and stared at him. His other hand was placed firmly against his eyes though she swore she caught him moving his fingers closed as she looked up at him. His lips were pressed tightly together, a single tooth digging into his lower lip. He was a shaking, blushing mess.
"For God's sake, you're a grown man..." (_____) said as she pried the key from 2D's sweaty palm. "...act like one."

She walked over to the bowl she kept her keys in and dropped the key in. Hearing no response from 2D she turned back around to see 2D still standing there near the door like a statue. She swore she saw him close his fingers again. He was also clutching his shirt and tugging it down with his free hand. (_____) rolled her eyes and leaned against the kitchen counter.

"You can look, you know. I don't care if you do at this point."
"Bu' I care."
"Well don't care. Don't be so embarrassed. I'm the one who should be embarrassed, not you."
"I know but still..."
(_____) sighed and drummed her fingers against the counter top.
"I'll go put on a shirt if it makes you feel more comfortable."
"Please?" 2D choked out . (_____) lazily turned around and walked back to her room to go put on a shirt. When she came back she saw 2D messing around with her VCR.
"Are you looking for your movie?" (_____) asked. 2D jolted a little and nodded. He watched (_____) walk towards him and crane her body over his head to reach a cabinet beside her TV. She pulled out the movie and handed it down to 2D. 2D's fingers twitched when they brushed against (_____)'s momentarily.
"Fanks..." 2D mumbled.
"No problem." (_____) replied as she straightened up.
"Stay up with me and talk for a while. You owe me that much for waking me up this late."
"Fine..." 2D said as he scooted over to the couch behind him and sat down, placing the movie beside him.
"...but don' you 'ave work tomorrow?" 2D asked from the living room. (_____), who was in the kitchen by now, shrugged and opened her cupboards, pulling out a glass and surprise, surprise, a bottle of whiskey.
"Do you want anything to drink? I've got wine, whiskey, a-"
"Do y'ave beer?"
(_____) gave 2D a skeptic look but nodded. (_____) poured herself a whiskey and then opened the fridge, peering inside.
"Hey, 2D. You a good catcher?"
"Uh... no?"
"Then I won't throw it."
She pulled out a cold beer out of the fridge, grabbed her drink, and walked over to the couch. As she handed the beer to 2D she huffed in amusement.
"Wha'?" 2D asked.
"You're so boring when it comes to what you drink."
"I drink wha' I want. Don' judge me." 2D said as he tried to pop off the bottle cap. (_____) chuckled and shrugged as she took a swig of her drink.
"You sure like your whiskey, don' you?" 2D asked. (_____) simply nodded smugly.
"I'm an alcoholic. What do you expect?" (_____) stated flatly. 2D was taken aback. He didn't expect her to say it so bluntly.
"Way t'put tha' out there." 2D said as he took a sip of his beer. (_____) shrugged.
"I don't beat around the bush. (_____) said as she shook her drink back and forth, making the liquor swirl into a burnt orange whirlpool.
"I was just raised that way, I suppose. Doesn't stop people from pointing my problem out every chance they get." (_____) frowned.
"They act like I've never heard of liver problems before. Actin' like I don't know what I'm don' is ruining my body." (_____) slurred as she let the last drop of burning alcohol slide down her throat. 2D stayed quiet and listened while occasionally taking sips of his beer which were becoming nervous swigs. He wasn't sure if (_____) was getting upset or not so he kept his mouth shut.
"They keep saying stuff like 'Oh you'll kill your liver like that!' and 'Oh, (_____), you shouldn't drink AND work at a liquor store too!'. They act like I can't control myself..."

(_____) trailed off. 2D blinked and hesitantly opened his mouth.

"You work at a liquor store?"
"Yeah..."
"Does i' pay well?"
"Eh. There are two types of people in this country. People who buy their own alcohol..." (_____) held up her index finger.
"...and people who drink at pubs." (_____) held up her middle finger and gave 2D an annoyed look.
"Guess who gets more money and customers in the long run?"
"...Pubs?"
"Pubs."
(_____) sighed and rolled her eyes.
"I used to live in a house, you know. But then local pubs with a big budget almost put me out of business. Mainly because of their mixed drinks. I know how to mix drinks but I don't feel like mixing up a Sex On The Beach for every customer." (_____) said with a chuckle.
"I tried selling mixed drink ingredients but it didn't sell well because either they're too lazy to mix their own drinks or they don't know how. I just ended up taking them home.
"How much do you take home?"
"All of my favorites. So about 3 bottles of whiskey and maybe one good bottle of red dessert wine about every week."
"Dear God, you're stocked for th' winter, aren' you?"
"It's Fall..."
"Proves m'point."
(_____) snorted out a laugh. 2D gave her a toothy grin in response.
"Why'd you 'ave beer, though?"
"I only drink that when I have nothing else."
"Oh." 2D mumbled as he took a sip of his beer.
"Sorry for comin' out at fis 'our, by th' way. I jus' wanted to get your key to you."
"It's fine. Though you owe me for not pushing you down those stairs outside and telling you to piss off. If it were anyone else they would have been bruised to all hell."
2D almost choked on the drink he had in his mouth. To him (_____) seemed much more violent when she was tipsy. 2D chuckled nervously.
"I guess I'm lucky, then?" He said timidly.
"Yeah. You're lucky you're attractive. I'd have to make you ugly."
"You fink I'm attractive?"
"Somewhat. I guess I'm a sucker for younger pretty boys."
"Wha' d'you mean 'younger'?"
"Sweetheart I'll be turning 30 in about a year. I'm 29."
2D was shocked. (_____) had looked as if she were a day over 20.
"I 'ad no idea. You look so young! You look a day ova' 20!"
"Thanks, I guess. I would look a lot different if I were 20 though. A bit thinner and paler. My hair would be longer too."
"Well I bet you were jus' as pretty."
"You think I'm pretty?"
"Of course I do! Look at you!"
"Yeah, look at me. A lonely grown woman drinking her sorrows away. Super attractive, mate."
"You are, though! You're very attractive!"
"I'm still lonely. I'm sure I'll find someone to keep me company one day, though."
2D hummed in understanding. (_____) glanced up at the clock.
"Well I guess you should head home now. I don't want people to think you were kidnapped or something."
2D blinked and glanced up the clock as well.
"I guess so..." 2D said as he stood up and stretched, his movie in hand. 2D walked over to the door and opened it, turning around to face (_____) who was following behind.
"Well I guess I'll see you around, 2D."
"You can call me Stuart if you want..."
"Alright."
"I'll see you around, then." 2D said as he stepped down the stone stairs.
"Goodnigh', (_____)."
"Night, Stuart. Love you." (_____) said as she shut the door. 2D whipped around.
"Wha' did you jus' say?!" 2D yelped. No response. 2D stood there for a moment in shock. Did she just say 'I love you'? 2D rubbed his cheek and took one final glance at the apartment door. His face felt hot and he felt dizzy. Queasy almost. 2D took a deep breath and began the long walk back to the studio. What a night.
