The breeze was cold, sending a shiver down his spine, it was a wake up call to Aeron. As if the world's whispering 'You're still here' or as he thinks, it was mocking him. Despite his attempts to open his eyes, it was currently out of the question. He was still too weak to do so.
His breathing was shallow, the smell of smoke invaded his nose and he felt his chest restrict in pain. He let out a few chocked coughs.
"You're awake," a man's voice, do I know him? "Glad you're not dead, it would 've been a pain to bury you." Aeron's only reply was to weakly furrow his brows, "How foolish of you," the man cleared his throat, "to get stung by a bee" A hint of a smirk made its way to Aeron's face, and he's sarcastic,
"Rude." Aeron breathed out, opening his eyes slowly only to immediately close them.the smoke hurt his eyes.
The man immediately noticed, but did nothing about it, not that he could do anything in their current state anyway. There wasn't an area that was free of smoke that he can move Aeron to. The boy would have to just suck it up.. For now.
He didn't know the source of the smoke, but he can take a wild guess. If they 'd just made it to the meadow in time..
Aeron breathing was still shallow, strands of his burgundy hair were stuck to his forehead. Despite the chilly breeze, his skin glistened with sweat. Dare he admit it, he felt sorry for the boy.
After all, it was your fault that he..
He rubbed his knuckles against his eyes and took a deep breath,
Can't think like that now.
"Cold.." Aeron tried to speak again, the smirk disappearing from his face.
The man furrowed his brows, the boy might not have noticed it, but he was already covered with the man's cape. That is not the way to repay you, kid..
"To look.." Aeron coughed, "at the sky, you and me.." He mumbled under his breath, the man almost questioned the boy's sanity until Aeron kept going, the man then realized that the boy wasn't talking to him, the boy was mumbling to himself. The man leaned back against the tree's bark to listen.
"Chances are there for us to see," Aeron took deeper breaths, he was visibly chocking on his own breath, but whatever he was mumbling motivated him to breathe a little deeper,
To keep going, "The sun rises and sets again,"For you and me to engrave this tree,
With the love I behold, everyday
Darling, the light shines there, too
But your eyes only see gray,
Love you less, I shall not,
Sadness, darling, does not knockThe man had no right nor the desire to stop him.
