Sitting on a wall was a black cat, wicked green eyes watching upwalkers and animals walking by. But he did notice that the upwalkers and the other animals stirring clear of him. The setting sun warming his fur, his tail twitching in agitation.
"Why are you upset?" A voice called.
He jumped and turned quickly. Lying on the wall behind him was an older calico. Her white fur looked like someone took orange, brown and black paint and just threw it on her randomly. Her gold colored eyes looking straight at him, her tail curled around her.
"I'm not upset." he growled and turned his back to her.
"Oh? Then why are you not happy?" she purred slightly.
"I am not unhappy!" he hissed his head turned to her green eyes narrowed.
"Oh? Then what's the matter?"
"Nothing." he turned back away.
"Come now, you can tell me."
"No one wants me."
"Why? Did you steal an upwalker kit's sugar on a stick?"
"No."
"Okay, did you eat the swimming food that upwalkers keep in large bowls?"
"No..."
"Okay. Well did you hurt an upwalker kit? Or even an upwalker?"
"What? NO!"
"Then why does no one want you?"
"Because I'm a black cat."
"Okay. Your a black cat I'm a calico we are both cats. So why would no one want you?"
"I'm unlucky."
"Says who?"
"Everyone upwalker and animal alike."
"Does all upwalkers believe that?"
"Yes."
"Oh you tried to see if all upwalkers are like that?"
"Why? They are just going to turn tail and leave."
"Try again. Something wonderful is going to happen today."
"How would you know?" he growled.
"Because it is All Hollows Eve. Anything can happen."
He rolled his eyes and jumped from the wall. He looked back to see her lying there still. He just huffed and walked away, "Pushy female cat." he hissed.
He just walked away, ignoring the looks that the upwalkers sent his way. He just huffed again and continued on his way. He watched lazily as upwalkers stopped in their paths and turn around to go another way, animals would also stir clear. The black cat just walked before something caught his eye. He stopped walking and set down before looking across the gray river. Standing there was an upwalker kit. He just stared at the kit with his green eyes. Before his eyes he saw the young kit smile and rush off.
The cat just huffed and shook his head before walking off. He spotted an old bus bench. He jumped up and set onto the bench, he started cleaning himself when he heard something.
"Hello." A familiar meow called.
"Oh it's you." he growled.
"Yes it's me."
He turned his head and there was the calico lying on the back of the bench. He rolled his eyes before lying himself down.
"What do you want?" he hissed slightly irate.
"Just seeing if you actually took my advice."
"Yeah I looked around and you know what happened? Nothing absoultly nothing." he hissed.
"Oh really?"
"Yes really!" he turned on her but she was looking away from him.
He turned his head and huffed. Standing a few body lengths away was the upwalker kit. He was looking at the two cats a smile on his face. Behind him was an adult female upwalker. The young kit walked closer to them. The black cat just sighed and turned away, he knew that the upwalker would go for the female. He just let out a gasp and fluffed out when he felt arms around him. He looked behind him and saw it was the upwalker kit.
"Look mama! It's a lucky cat! Can we keep him?"
"I don't know it is up to your father come, Akaito let's get home."
"Can we bring lucky cat?"
"Oh I guess so. Come on let's get home."
"Okay mama!"
The upwalkers walked away the black cat held tightly in the young boy's arms. Lying on the bench watching them go was the calico, "Ah, I told you that good things happen on All Hallows Eve. You are home now my little kitten. You are home." She set up and nodded her head slightly before she jumped off the bench and started walking away.
She slowly started to fade away and soon there was no sign that she was there.
The black cat looked behind them hoping to catch sight of the calico but she was no where to be seen, "You were right, I guess things are looking up after all."
